This game and song had a really strong impact on me. It's been a while since I beat the game, but I have so many moments from the narrative that stuck with me that I find myself reflecting on it often. There's so much texture to it that sometimes it even seems to resemble real life, somehow not even a historical piece but one that feels contemporary.

There was a moment when Arthur finally admits that he's scared, one in which I found myself grieving for a friend. By the end of the story I felt as if I lost a relative of mine. I've been reeling ever since.

I'm not even sure calling something like that a masterpiece is even appropriate, but I was deeply touched by Arthur and John. Appreciate you sharing.

Yes, like losing a family member or close friend. The vid was from my second play through. It didn't get any easier, but I became aware of certain things going on that I had missed before. Particularly with Micah and Dutch.

So where the hell you been? Good to hear from ya, pardner.

Mostly still doing overtime, but I check in from time to time. Pretty stable, relatively, but it's been a lot of work keeping it that way. I've taken up a new game I can play with my girl, so all things considered stuff is pretty peachy.

I've mostly stayed away as I don't play Fallout 4, and, truth be told, RDR2 made me reflect a lot on my own writing. Life put me on a steel file and raked some character into me, easiest way to put it. I found it hard to come back to my stories as I'd used my writing I realized I'd used Nora more as a talking piece than to build her as a person.

A lot of my stuff was about the context, but RDR2 put that context where it belonged: in the background. It made it hard to write, and, subsequently a lot easier to drift away. Made me realize what I liked about your content, and why people clambored for each helping. When I saw one of my old favorite writers and one of my favorite pieces of media cross paths I thought it was a good time to drop in.

But enough about me, I just hope you're doing well yourself friend.

When the time comes............ Not a half bad way to be remembered. But - even without having played the game- I know how it feels to say goodbye to a character you've grown to know - and love- during countless hours of playing. Or when you close a book on the last page. I think I somehow can gather the end of the game from what you - and others- comment on here. I think the ending slides of New Vegas are plenty sad, thank you very much

No one wants to talk about the ending -- it would be the ultimate spoiler -- but it's fairly easy to read between the lines. I knew, as the game developed...  but the emotional impact was not diminished one bit.

I'm enjoying this game through you, Laird, and it's almost like I play it with each new post you do

Note: I do have the game, just not the time

Seems like I've been a salesman for Rockstar lately or at least a cheerleader. Well, find the time, damn it!

That was such a sad moment in the game. Very cinematic and well done too. Unlike anything else I've encountered in other games -- especially when you know what's coming (or how the story will have to end).

Yah. As FBC says, you still need a box of Kleenex tissues nearby, even if you seen this ride several times before.

Great presentation Laird, watched your video on the flicker page, wanted to leave comment, not a flicker member, so I leave comment here.

Thanks much. Yeah, not worth joining Flickr just to leave a comment. I used it for this because it's a little easier to use than youtube.

Beautifully done, Laird, although I've got that urge to grab for my Kleenix box again.   I don't recall if I mentioned to you that I watched a YT vid where the channel actually brought in a film maker/director/writer to review the game--it proved very interesting.  He was amazed and very complimentary at the quality and how they actually used film techniques to take the player into a well produced movie.  He was a younger man, never played the game and said at the end, "Have to play this now!"

Interesting about the film maker. And yes, for those of us who have played the game, this ride is definitely a Kleenex tissue moment.

Great song Laird! It really fitted with the video!!!
Although i am not very familiar with the game's stories(only some extensive youtube videos i've seen), i found it very touching, emotional and heartwarming!
    Great job my friend!

Thanks. Yes, the song is quite fitting as this ride takes place near the end of Arthur's chapters in the game. (John Marston plays the final chapters.)
