The **Budd Rail Diesel Car (RDC)** is a self-propelled passenger railcar built by the Budd Company between 1949 and 1962. Designed for efficiency and flexibility, the RDC features a stainless-steel body and is powered by two diesel engines driving hydraulic transmissions, eliminating the need for a separate locomotive.

They could be operated individually or in multiple-unit configurations. The design included various models, such as the RDC-1 (full passenger version), RDC-2 (passenger and baggage), and RDC-3 (passenger, baggage, and mail).
Many RDCs remained in service for decades, with some later rebuilt for continued operation, demonstrating their durability and practicality.
