This report will be brief. Earlier this year, the Cascadian Intelligence Service picked up on a certain operational unit conducting clandestine actions in the Magadan region during the course of the Pacific Federation's "Operation Devotee" aimed at pacifying the Chukotkan uprising which occurred alongside other revolts in the Federation's territories - now collectively known as the Federation Uprisings. This previously unknown group first showed up, in our belief, as what seemed to be an anti-Federation partisan unit, and a skilled one at that. However, our attention was gained when our assets within the region reported that this group had defected to the Federation with no warning - their action of betrayal in fact was the infamous assassination of a prominent and skilled Chukotkan general (see Document 5591) which resulted in the Federation gaining the upper hand in battle.
Me and my team started trying to gather information on this 'partisan unit' almost immediately after that. But even after a few months of digging, I am alarmed of how little we know about this group. Regardless, we have managed to get bits and pieces that are crucial to finding out more about them.
The general's death was not a result of rogue insurgents. It was a contracted hit carried out by a mercenary group known only as "Task Force 404". It is worth noting that despite Cascadia's known reputation for being free and open to mercenaries, this PMC had never made their existence known to us before. Attempts to contact this PMC have proven futile so far - either they seem to prefer their local clients, or more likely, are still contracted to the Federation for the duration of the campaign in Chukotka.
Task Force 404 is a company which has devoted itself to secrecy in its operations. Very little can be found about their origins, their strength, or their capabilities. But to put it frankly, they are very good at their job. It is known that while they have substantial ground forces, they also possess at least one fighter squadron of four SK.37s, nicknamed "Isomer". Among other things, this fighter squadron is highly likely to have been behind the airstrike of the Chukotkan leader Feodor Vyshshansy's compound (previously thought to be a Federation Peacekeeper squadron, see Document 6013A), an event which essentially reduced a once threatening uprising into a minor insurgency.
It is urgent that Task Force 404 and in particular, squadron "Isomer", must be looked into further. If this organization is tasked in the future to assault our country, there is no telling how much damage they may be able to do.
