This is a simple Lua script for Cheat Engine that allows you to have regenerating health in Project Wingman. The regeneration speed is one hit point per second. You can choose either to regenerate health up to 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% health.

I have tested this mod with Steam version of the game with the version number 4.24.3.0.

How to use

  • Start the game
  • Open Cheat Engine.
  • Click the first icon in Cheat Engine toolbar (Select process to open).
  • Select the Project Wingman process and click "Open".
  • Click the second icon in Cheat Engine toolbar (Open a cheat table or unprotected cetrainer).
  • Select the cheat table (.CT) file you downloaded
  • In the lower part of the screen, select which mod you want to use. Click the white box next to the mod to activate it. Cheat engine may freeze for a few seconds while it's scanning the memory.
  • Congrats! You now have regenerating health

Note: because how the health value is read from the memory, the health regeneration starts as soon as you take at least one point of damage. This won't matter if you enable the mod before you start a level but if you start the mod in the middle of a level with less than 100 health, the regeneration will only start once you have been hit once.

Why did you make this mod?

I love Project Wingman but the lack of a checkpoint system really hampers my enjoyment. If you spend 20 minutes shooting targets and then an ace squadron shows up and you have less than 25% health left, you are basically screwed. If you make one mistake, you'll be shot out of the sky and you'll have to redo the whole 20-minute mission which isn't fun.

So I thought regenerating health would be the next best thing. If you set the regenerating health to 25% using this mod, if you can evade the enemies for a while, you'll always have enough health to survive one missile hit. This makes the gameplay a bit forgiving by allowing the player to make a few mistakes without it resulting in instant death.

This mod is inspired by Ace Combat 7, which allows you to equip an airplane part called Automated Fire Extinguisher which allows you to partially restore health, and games like Battlefield 3 and 4 which feature regeneration heath for vehicles like jets.

Thanks

Special thanks to ndck76 on FearLess Cheat Engine forums for creating a Cheat Engine table for Project Wingman. I used their research as a base to figure out the memory address of the health value in the game.
