About this mod

The moon is now the deadly trap it always deserved to be. Escaping just got a lot harder.
A complete overhaul of most major game play systems including loot, abilities, the corruption timer and the enemy Ai.

What is new?
There are many changes. These are the most important.
Loot balance:

  • Medikits, Psihypos and some other items are less common
  • Some recipes changed
  • Items in the pregame shop cost a lot more crypto point (No more fully equipped characters before you even start)
  • The mule (the magic operator you can use as a second inventory) can be used just once per character.

AI changes (Thanks to Syynx):

  • Phantoms now hate losing the player and will warp more often. They also are more aggressive and will punish you for just running at them with a wrench
  • Mimics dodge more often and hide in better spots
  • Science Operators are harder to catch and zap you faster
  • Other operators really want to see you dead too
  • Weavers drop a lot of Cystoids
  • Some secret changes ; )

Difficulty changes:
  • Enemies are stronger
  • Legendary and rare weapons are weaker (but still strong enough to be amazing to find)
  • Abilities are less strong (I didn’t manage to change the ability descriptions, so some are wrong now. See this list down below for more details)
  • Some traumas are handicap you more
  • Food heals doesn't give you instantly health back and heals only over time. The total amount of healing is slightly reduced

Rebalanced timer:
  • You have less time at lower levels of the corruption timer but more at higher levels
  • No more random time loop spawns and no more fabrication. You have to hunt down Typhon if you want to stop the corruption.

Mod is too hard?
If you think this mod is too hard, use the EasierTimer file in addition to the normal file. It can be added and removed at any time with just a restart of the game. It's also compatible with my Slow or No corruption timer- Easy mode mod. I do not recommend slowing the timer down too much, but do what ever you like.

Tips (changes require new strategies. You can't play this mod the same ):

Having the operator only once per character changes a lot. Think carefully when to summon him. Will you summon him at the beginning of a character's run to be equipped? Or will you summon him at the end just before you escape to pass on your items to the next character?
Also think about storing your items at the central tower in the crater. Time is short, but maybe it's worth to walk back there to give your next character the legendary shotgun.
Time in the easy corruption levels is short, but the game gets a lot harder with higher corruption. Hunt down Typhons to get enough time loops.


List of all ability changes
I didn't manage to change the in game ability descriptions. So here are the real effects.

Passive:
  • Conditioning: +20 health instead of 25
  • Fitness 2:  +1 Jump height instead of 1.75, no faster sprint acceleration
  • Psi Aptitude 1-3: +15 Psi instead of 50
  • Regeneration 1: +5/10 regeneration instead of 10/15
  • Stamina 1-2: +10 Stamina instead of 20, +3 Stamina regeneration instead of 4
  • Suit Mod 1-2: only more chipslots, no more inventory
  • Suit Mod 3: only +1 inventory column, no inventory row
  • Toughness 1-3: +20 health instead of 35/50/100, +5 regeneration instead of 10 

Active:
  • Burrow: 20 damage instead of 50
  • Electro Static Burst 1-3: 20/30/40 damage instead of 25/40/55
  • Kinetic Blast 2-3: 60/70 damage instead of 75/100
  • Psychoshock 2-3: 50/60 damage instead of 65/90
  • Thermal Blast 1-3: 60/70/80 damage instead of 75/100/125

How to Install:
Unzip and copy the patch_MooncrashHardmodeV1.x.x.pak file into ..\Prey\Whiplash\GameSDK\Precache. The same goes for the EasierTimer file.
(for Steam users, the full path is probably C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Prey\Whiplash\GameSDK\Precache)

It's recommended starting a new game. Some changes don't work in existing savefiles.
If you don't want to play through the intro and the first few tutorial escapes, I uploaded a savefile you can use. All characters are unlocked.

Unzip and replace the campaing1 folder under
C:\Users\YourUserName\Saved Games\Arkane Studios\Prey\SaveGames\Mooncrash0.
If it doesn't work, try to delete the temp folder as well.


Uninstall:
Delete the patch_MooncrashHardmodeV1.0.pak file. Not all changes will disappear.
