Baldur's Gate 3 Competition - Winners

  • Comment
It’s time for the results of our Baldur’s Gate 3 screen archery competition! A huge thank you to everyone who took part. It’s been another tough competition, with the final results being really close.

As always, we know everyone will have their personal favourites, but let’s keep comments positive and light-hearted. This competition was all about having some fun with the new photomode, and we want to make sure our winners feel respected and celebrated.

Please note that the number of endorsements listed below for the community vote reflects how many each submission had at the time of writing. We appreciate that some additional endorsements may have been added since then, but these would have fallen outside the official voting period.

For our Nexus Mods winners, I’ve also included some quotes from the team explaining why we chose each entry.

Right, now let’s take a look at our winners!

Community Winners

1st Place - mantiiiss - 73 Endorsements

2nd Place - rakor1 - 43 Endorsements

3rd Place - FeLLiPe - 42 Endorsements

Nexus Mods Winners

1st Place - 65CloudStrife1991

I like the fact it's captured that exciting moment you find a new dungeon to explore. The lighting is superb, from the sunlight pouring in from a broken roof through to it creeping into the cave entrance. The quality of this is so good, I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if it were official concept art from Larian.

This has nice framing, great composition and showcases a beautiful BG3 location, it would make for a great wallpaper.

2nd Place - Evo2077

I liked the ethereal quality of this image. For me, it epitomised the fantasy vibe of the game, while the title of Healing Hands focused more on themes of teamwork and friendship central to BG3. It also did a great job showing what’s possible when you use a few mods to help create your Tav and make something unique to you. Also, I like the colour blue.

3rd place - ultracasio

The combination of foreground bokeh and contrast with the black background helps to capture the facial details of the dark urge whilst maintaining an atmosphere that fits the character. The framing is also pretty nice.

The red gleam in the eye pulls you in. Sharp scale detail and an all-knowing smoulder make it feel mysterious and ancient, like it knows something you don’t, perfect for the durge.

Once again, please join me in giving a huge congratulations to our winners!

Thank you to everyone who entered the competition. The creativity and talent within the BG3 screen archery community never cease to amaze me.

Don’t forget you can view all the submissions here.

I bet you think everything is AI lmao. Those are some shots that are entirely possible in engine with MODS and shocker we're on a modding site.

I know these are all subjective and I don't want to be mean, but the fact that a random snap of someone's OC got more endorsements than that stunningly composed shot of Orin is wild. Same for the elf placing higher than the dragonborn, honestly. I don't think the elf even has edits to it; it's just a snapshot. At least the dragonborn photo has some depth of field going on.

The “random snap” of my OC took a lot of effort. I used lighting mods that required different placements of over 5 spawned lights to get the “halo effect” around my character, which is tedious if you have ever done this. I also took the time to edit the face in Blender, character textures and scars in Photoshop, as well as code the head to have blind eyes. I also had the creator of the veil mod edit it for that hair specifically to show through without clipping. This shot took me over an hour to do and was not random nor thoughtless.

The placement of the character, the posing, the rendering of the image with IGCS DOF also takes time. This wasn’t random; a lot of time, thought and effort was put into it.

The Orin photo is also amazing, and I voted for it as well, but you don’t need to put other people down to compliment others. You can share your opinion kindly without minimizing the effort it took for all of these photos. You were in fact mean to several of the creators who took the time and effort to submit their photos.

Great job everyone! I love the variety both of the community winners as well as the Nexus winners, it shows a great diversity in what one can
create with the tools and mods at disposal <3

None of this is easy despite it appearing to be by those who mayhaps have pretty sparse
    offerings themselves.
