About this mod

Start the game on Kazuwari, letting you play the Seeker Slayer Survivor DLC as a standalone campaign!

Permissions and credits
The best thing with Arena content from BG serie was arguably that it enabled creating a party specifically for them.
A CRPG being around 100h of play, being able to experience a party for much shorter runs was great.

Slayer Seaker Survivor does not allow it. It is well integrated to the base game (as well as an arena game could be) but it is still the least good of the 3 DLC for me. Prolonging a run with another series of mere battles isn’t that fun.
It is a pity because the huge diversity of builds allowed by PoE2 would probably make it great.

So what about making a mod that would allow such an experience?

S4 is an attempt to make the Seeker Slayer Survivor DLC playable as a standalone campaign.

With S4 installed, a New Game does not start with you waking up in the Beyond, but
by entering through the doors to the Temple of Toamowhai:

Thousand thanks to everyone in the Obsidian Forum threads for feedback, suggestions and solutions!

Note that this mod is balanced with Get on my Level in mind! The first few encounters are incredibly tough without this mod to bring hired adventurers up to your level.

Details

  • The Proving quest will trigger with all plot flags set accordingly.

  • All paths leading out from the island of Kazuwari will be blocked, leaving you there for the remainder of the campaign.

  • You'll start at Level 16 with 50'000 copper and one Superb copy of every weapon and armor kind.

  • You'll be free to access the inn and hire a full party of adventurers before taking on any challenges. (Just speak with Humaire once first to unlock the inn.)

  • Arena Challenges will provide extra gold (20'000 cp) and experience. These rewards are repeatable, but your party will reach Lv19 in the later parts of the campaign even if you only do the mandatory challenges.

  • Vendors will sell all unique items from the base game and the two other DLCs, and have a replenishable inventory of all consumables.

  • Soulbound items with special unlock conditions that cannot be fulfilled in S4 (such as sailing into a storm with Lord Darryn's Voulge) are preemptively flagged as completed and will unlock automatically.

  • For convenience, Weapon & Armor Enchantments won't require ingredients. Instead, the total value of the required ingredients are added to the enchantment cost.

  • Keeps track of whether you are on a "S4 playthrough" or not. Changes to stores, rewards, recipes, etc. as listed here are NOT applied to non-S4 playthroughs, so the mod can be safely enabled at all time.

  • Berath's Blessings that are not applicable for S4 are "locked" for clarity and convenience.

Vendors

Caretta - Weapon and Armor.

Cook Corrin - Food and Drugs.

Domenga - Pets. (Note that Domenga won't open her shop and inn until you've spoken to Humaire once.)

Neale - Potions, Traps, Bombs and Ingredients.

Winge - Grimoires, Scrolls and Accessories. (Note that Winge won't open her shop until after the first challenge.)

Installation

Download the .zip file and extract the folder it contains to your override folder.
...\Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire\PillarsOfEternityII_Data\override

Note that for this mod to properly overwrite the New Game Intro Scene and Berath's Blessings, the mod must already have been installed and enabled when the game was launched.

If for example the game was running when you put the mod in the override folder, please restart the game once before starting a new S4 playthrough.

You can verify whether the mod is overwriting everything correctly by visiting the Berath's Blessings page, it should look like the image above.

Starting a normal playthrough but keeping S4 installed

  • Go to the Mod Manager tab.
  • Disable S4.
  • Quit and restart the game.
  • Start a new game.
  • You're now on a non-S4 playthrough

At any point after you've made a save for the new non-S4 playthrough, you can enable S4 again. (As long as S4 is enabled the next time you're loading a S4 save.)

Compatability

S4 implements No Artifact Hunts, but limits its functionality to S4 playthroughs.

If you want No Artifact Hunts to apply to non-S4 playthroughs while S4 is installed, make sure to put No Artifact Hunts lower in the load order:
