    Common Issues/Questions

Q: Is PoE a 32 bit or 64 bit game?
    A: PoE is a 32 bit game

Q: Which SweetFX DLL should I use?
    A: Rename ReShade32.dll to OPENGL32.dll

Q: Which version of SweetFX should I use?
    A: SweetFX 2.0 Preview 8 SweetFX 2.0 Preview 8 by CeeJay.dk | ReShade 0.16.00 by Crosire 26 Feb 12:43 CET

Q: My 64bit system (especially Win 8.1 for some reason) is having issues with Reshade/SweetFX2.0, what's up?
A: Download both the 32bit and 64bit version of DirectX (Windows 8.1 you activate 32bit DirectX under Control Panel in Programs and Features). It's something with BETA Reshade I think.

Q: These fumes are making me dizzy Mr. Simpsons?
    A: Yeah, they'll do that.

Since you made this post, ReShade 0.18.00 was released. Does that version hold any performance/artistic advantages over ReShade 0.16.00, and is your preset compatible with the newest version?

It should be 100% compatible (I haven't noticed any real change in the parts of Reshade I use). Reshade 0.18.00 seems to have slightly altered the SMAA/FXAA performance via SweetFX (better performance now), but neither of those features are used in this preset/game, and whatever other performance boost has been negligible enough to not notice (I think this update was more for the Reshade portion of the program and less so for SweetFX). =)

Edit - It is 100% ok to use this with updated versions of Reshade. =)

In case anyone is interested, I tried to make a similar but updated reshade, it's not exactly obviously, but I'm happy with how it looks, the result is similar to this one.

At least until the author decides to update his reshade, if someday he decides to do it, you have this option, just download the file, it's an .ini file, which is the reshade preset, you need to download the updated ReShade from his page here:

    ReShade

    Installation:

    • You choose the game you are going to install the reshade to, in this case, POE.

    • You install it using the DX10/11/12 option in the installation, since the current beta patch of the game requires that DirectX due to the Unity engine update (I guess, it's the one it works with with the beta patch).

    • When prompted by the installation, check all shaders in the installation to install them all.

    • Finish the installation, then copy the .ini file I gave you in the same main directory of the game.

    • When you start the game and the shaders load, open the reshade menu with the "Home" key and there you have to select my preset, which is called "POE Enhanced" (I don't have much imagination for names xD), once selected it should load, but you still hit "reload" at the bottom of the reshade window to load it.

In the settings tab of the window you can configure things like the key with which you activate or deactivate the reshade and thus compare how it looks with or without it, apart from other things that can be configured, format of the screens, the key to make screens, etc etc etc.

Preset for ReShade -> My Preset (MEGA)

    NOTE:

My reshade preset is intended for people using the current beta patch of the game, if you are not using that patch, the reshade on this page still works as usual, if it doesn't work for you you are doing something wrong.

    Enjoy (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

      Great job!
For me it was a little, how to say, saturated...?
The colors are a little too vivid...maybe it's the gamut or brightness...

Sorry, I had not seen the comment.

It is very easy to edit the preset, open the menu with the "home" button, the shaders you might be interested in are "Technicolor2", "Tonemap" (less likely) and "Vibrance", I think "Technicolor2" could be the one that is adding those more vivid colors, since that is basically its function, you can try lowering the "strength" bar or the saturation.

If you have any problem to do it let me know, I could make another version less saturated.

The question is that it depends a lot on the monitor of each person, I see it well, but it could look more saturated or less in the monitor of other people, to obtain a balance for all is complicated.

With new Steam beta patch , they are updating Unity version and upgrading PoE to DX11 (they didnt listed DX change but they changed it I checked), this reshade will need to be updated in near future.

One of my fav reshade presets .

Yes, it is not working anymore, none of the options you have to change DLL works right now, it would be interesting to be updated, for me this preset is essential, it gives a touch to the game that I like a lot, the game looks weird without it xD

Does anyone know how to install this mod for the epic version? I added it to exe's folder and altered the path in the opengl32.ini but it doesnt seem to be working.

late to the party but check the opengl32.ini included with the mod.  it's pointing to the c drive for the shaders in the creators POE install.  if you aren't on c: in the default directory they won't work.

I tried to make a new version of this in the new Reshade and got very close.  I just can't get it perfect.  I don't know enough about the filters but maybe someone will come along and do it.  The new Reshade forces you to pick Directx9 also since it won't load with OpenGL.

With the release of Pillars of Eternity 2 close at hand, I thought I would do a final repackage for Reshade 3.1, as I am going back through the game again! Here's the link:

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1TVEcWtYQx8rWGtP0tbZBNCY-jL227ZDF

@refusedzero I hope you conciser updating your repackage for Pillars 2

Edit: I have altered the repackage to include the information found by @NoValidTitle. I have added a section to the ReadMe documentation and edited the opengl32.ini so the path is pointing to the default steam directory.

Hey thanks for this but I found an issue. Your opengl32.ini file has things pointing to a gog install on D drive but the instructions are for steam. Once I updated those directories in the ini it started to work.

Thank you for bringing that to my attention! I wasn't aware there was path information in the opengl32 ini. I'll update the package with an alternate ini in the next few days.

Thanks for creating an ini that works with new Reshade. I don't know how to make them and I hope we see an update or at least one for Pillars of Eternity 2. I know there is one Sweetfx already for it that looks good. I have no idea how to convert it to ini though. Hopefully someone does. Thanks again.

I went back to replay this wonderful game and, found my original repackage not working as intended. So, I decided to repackage this preset for Reshade 3.0. Everything seems to be working as intended with Reshade 3.0. Here is the link for the repackage. Enjoy!
