About this mod

Redesigning the games defensive armor plates to be more distinct. Adds some features that are not currently available normally and gives better variety to gear selection. Some are now better suited to certain mech builds and play styles than the usual heavy or light options.

Created by me, myself and I.
Inspired by previous attempts and potential.
Educated by Miketan and the community at large.
I present, Vanilla Plating Reworked.

Premise:
The original armor plates were painfully under performing, in comparison to other subsystems. So, I sought out ways to make them more utilitarian and distinct.

Theory:
Armor plating systems are commonly used by the military for a variety of combat scenarios. The most common of these is reactive armor to defend against HEAT, HESH and other fancy acronyms for armor piercing attacks.
As it turns out, some such damage resistances are present in the game files, but not implemented. So, I decided to apply them to some of the defensive plates.

The vanilla plates are renamed to various "platings" to emphasize they are not something just slapped on.
They are now reworked as follows:

Basic Plate -> Energized Plating: Provides minimal defense, but boosts power.

Composite Plate -> Alloy Plating: made from combination of metals to reduce heat generation but suffers defenses.

Lightweight Plate -> Empty Plating(fun fact, this is what the game files call it): Armor stripped down to nothing. greatly reduces weight, defenses and stability, but provides a boost to thrust.

Heavy Plate -> Reinforced Armor Plating: Maximum integrity and increases stability, but obviously heavy.

Hollow Plate -> Vented Plating: Increases heat dissipation at the cost of armor and barrier.

Barrier Plate -> Barrier Plating ( could not think of a better name, sorry): Armor optimized for barrier output. increases damage resistances. That's right, resistance.

Reinforced Plate -> Reinforced Barrier Plating: Packed full of barrier emitters(I am assuming barrier is an energy shield projected outward). Extra weight but superb barrier output and damage resistances. the barrier version of the armor plating.

Refer to supplied images for specific values.

Things are still being tuned, but this is probably the best I can do to start.

Installation instructions:
Phantom Brigade has a slightly different and more complicated installation method than most other games, as mods are activated on game launch, rather than on loading a save.

The usual routine is as follows;
Step 1.
Unzip files to:
C:\Users\*\AppData\Local\PhantomBrigade\Mods
Step 2.
Boot up the game.  Main Menu should have a mods menu already.  Open it up and locate the mod title.
Step 3.
Click the arrow button to move the mod from the left "all" column over to the central "Config" column.  Ensure that the small check box is filled; this will 'activate' the mod.
Step 4.
Click on the "Save Config" button. this will preserve the mod load order and active mods.
Step 5.
Click on the "Apply Mods" button. You will get an alert about how the game loads mods, as briefly explained above.  Confirm this action by clicking on the check mark button.
Step 6.
QUIT AND RESTART THE GAME! This will now properly load all active mods in the previous mod menu that you had set up.
