About this mod

Puts the locked-on target higher in the screen so that it won't get hidden behind your character.

This mod is no longer maintained

I recommend using Veos Mod Pack which works better, has cleaner code and has none of the issues this mod has.
In the option panel of Veos' mod, look for "Targeting" and under that menu, set "Targeting tilt" to the value you want.

I'll keep this mod around for archival.

-------- Old Description Below --------

Off-Center Targeting

This mod centers the lock-on targeting higher in the screen so you can have a better view on the enemy. In the Vanilla game, when targeting (especially at a longer range), your target often gets hidden behind your character.

This is version 2 of the mod, I remade it from scratch using an entire other method that is a lot lighter and less error-prone.

You can customize in the BepInEx Config Manager how high in the screen the target is moved.
Press F1 to show the configurator in-game.

Known Issues

Jittery Camera
If you have this issue, for now the fix I have found is to turn off Vertical Sync.
If you end-up with screen tearing, you can set the FPS to your monitor's refresh rate.
If you don't know your monitor's refresh rate, in most cases this will be 60.
I haven't had a chance to test it with faster monitors.

Until I find out exactly how and why this is happening, this is the only "fix" I can provide.

Compatibility

This mod should work with any mod that doesn't change the camera's behavior.
For example, it is compatible with Better Targeting.

More precisely, this mod adds a Postfix after the Update() method in the CharacterCamera class.

Thanks

Many thanks to Sinai for making SideLoader and Shared Mod Config Menu

How To Install
This is a BepInEx mod.

  • If you haven't already, download and install BepInExinstructions here

  • If you haven't already, install BepInEx Config Manager (You can just download the zip, drop it in Vortex and install it as a mod)
  • Download the OffCenterTargeting.zip file from the Files page
  • Put this zip file in your Outward directory, so it looks like "Outward\OffCenterTargeting.zip"
  • Right-click the file and "Extract Here", so it merges with the folders.
  • Done!

You can also install with Vortex, using my extension.
Just go in the "Games" tab in Vortex and add Outward to your managed games.
