This mod changes and improves (in my opinion) the Targeting System logic.
In the vanilla game, the targeting system will automatically swap targets based on your camera looking direction, and you cannot manually toggle targets.
This mod does two things:
I would recommend using both the vanilla target button as well as the new Toggle Target button. The vanilla button is still the main targeting button, and used to release your lock when there are other targets around. The Toggle Target button can also be used to acquire or release a lock on, but it will prioritize swapping targets over releasing the lock on.
You will find the new Toggle Target button in the main section of your in-game keybindings.

- Completely prevents the automatic target swapping.
- Adds a new button to your keybindings called "Toggle Target". This allows you to toggle through targets in your vicinity.
I would recommend using both the vanilla target button as well as the new Toggle Target button. The vanilla button is still the main targeting button, and used to release your lock when there are other targets around. The Toggle Target button can also be used to acquire or release a lock on, but it will prioritize swapping targets over releasing the lock on.

How To Install
This is a BepInEx mod.
- If you haven't already, download and install BepInEx: instructions here
- Download the BetterTargeting.zip file from the Files page
- Put this zip file in your Outward directory, so it looks like "Outward\BetterTargeting.zip"
- Right-click the file and "Extract Here", so it merges with the folders.
- Done!
