Step 2:
In game, reset both keyboard & gamepad controls to default
Step 3:
In game, unbind / empty the following actions in the Controller tab:
- Open HUD Shortcuts
- Wait
- everything on the D-Pad
Layout
LB - Modifier button (activates 2nd set for D-Pad when held)
RB - Cast Spell / Double press: Magic Tab
Start - Map Tab / when held: System Tab
Back - Inventory Tab / when held: Wait Menu
D-Pad
Normal press: When LB held:Additional functions:
D-Pad Up - Select Quickslot 2LB + D-Pad Up - Select Quickslot 5 D-Pad Up (double press) - Quickload
D-Pad Down - Select Quickslot 4 LB + D-Pad Down - Select Quickslot 6 D-Pad Down (double press) - Quicksave
D-Pad Left - Select Quickslot 3 LB + D-Pad Left - Select Quickslot 7D-Pad Left (when held) - Quest Tab
D-Pad Right - Select Quickslot 1 LB + D-Pad Right - Select Quickslot 8 D-Pad Right (when held) - Character Tab
Slots can easily be switched around in the Steam Controller Settings if you don't like these.
The reason why I made Quickload & Quicksave double press instead of long press is two fold:
1) it makes it harder to accidentally QS or QL when you just want to open the Quest or Char Tab
2) it allows you to still open and select from the HUD Wheel if you hold up or down on the D-Pad
