Respawning Varla and Welkynd Stones

Respawning Varla & Welkynd Stones v1.3 - Remaster

This was my absolute favorite mod for Oblivion Classic (2006). The mod was made by Khettienna 2009 and updated 2012. While the mod technically still works in the Oblivion Remaster, the player will not be able to see the actual Varla or Welkynd Stones due to how the Unreal Engine now handle all the graphics. However, with the UE4SS TesSyncMapInjector I could easily solve that problem, and now the mod work as intended.

There are three versions of the mod:
  • The Varla and Welkynd Stones respawn after 72 hours (3 days) <-- Most players should go with this version.
  • The Varla and Welkynd Stones respawn after 1 Day
  • The Varla and Welkynd Stones respawn after 1 hour (not recommended for regular players).

Unlike the regular spawning system, you can be inside the same cell and the stones will spawn in front of you when their cooldown is done. This is a bit exploitable, but it is what it is.

If you want to stay near the vanilla spawn timers go for the 3 day version of the mod. If you want to do constant tomb raider runs I however recommend the 1 day version in combination with the 1 day or 1 hour respawn mod in the optional section.

The 1 hour version is intended to be used on hardest difficulty with added difficulty mods and more monster spawns. So normal players should skip that one.

Requirements

You absolutely need to have these two mods installed for Respawning Varla & Welkynd Stones v1.3 - Remaster to work:

Very Important

As NeoSono experienced firsthand: please make sure UE4SS for OblivionRemastered (only use the NEXUS version) is the latest version or UE4SS TesSyncMapInjector will NOT work. And if UE4SS TesSyncMapInjector does not work you will NOT see any Varla and Welkynd Stones.
edit: ok for some reason I must have had an older or wrong version of ue4ss or something because it worked and all the other mods had no problems. the mapinjector however didnt work and I found out when i looked into the ue4ss.log instead of the one for the injector. I installed ue4ss again and now it works just fine.

If the above step does not work, two people managed to get the mod to work by manually move it in the load-order to this position:

DESCRIPTION
==================================
"Storytellers say that the Ayleids imbued their precious stones with the same magical
energy fused into the matrices of every structure they built. It is
said that should one of the stones be removed, it is only ever
temporary; after a time, its energy disperses, only to reconstitute at
its place of imbuement. Varla stones find their way home in about the
time of a moon cycle; welkynd stones, however, take only half that. Of
course, the residual magics of the stones that make them so valuable to
mages remain in the physical embodiment of the stone for years."

It always made me sad to loot varla & welkynd stones from Ayleid
ruins, because they seemed so at home there! Hence, this mod was born.
I have hand-replaced the stones with activators that respawn on a timer
after use, but still look just like the original stones. This way the
stones themselves haven't been altered, for the sake of compatibility.

When you first load your game with the mod active, all the stones will be
there. When you uninstall the mod, any stones you picked up prior to
installing the mod will still be gone.

This mod only works on stones in Oblivion's original Ayleid ruins. Stones outside of ruins
(such as on mages guild counters, or in NPC homes) were not altered.
Stones added by mods (including official DLC mods) are not affected by
this mod. You can tell the difference easily by the icon you get when
you put your crosshair over a stone. If it's a fist with a line through
it, like levers and buttons have, the stone will respawn. If it's a
regular hand, like a book or anything else you can pick up has, then it
will not respawn.

New this version: Re-cleaned the mod with the newest version of TES4Edit, and wrote a shiny new Readme.
