So first things first, I like taking screenshots so when I couldn't find a button to hide the UI I went to looking into console commands, but was informed (on Reddit) that a lot of the "Bethesda" commands from the Skyrim days, which also work in Starfield aren't a thing in Oblivion (currently, at least). So I then searched on Nexus mods and found Gametism's mod No-HUD-No-Effects and there was hope to take some nice screenshots without having to edit them out in photoshop later.
Obviously any normal person would be like "hey that's exactly the mod I need, search over", but I needed to know how to make the thing that Gametism already made! Thankfully, they linked their sources on how they were able to create the mod, they used Frans Bouma's ShaderToggler, which, when used with Reshade (version 6.4.1 with full add-on Support) you can make use of add-ons within the ReShade GUI.
Okay so we all following this journey, just a reminder, the mod I needed had already been made, but me being me, I HAD TO KNOW HOW TO MAKE THE THING TOO. Luckily, making the ShaderToggle was very easy thanks to the guide Frans Bouma shared on their ShaderToggle GitHub page . So I followed the steps, and within a few minutes, I was able to create the "Hide HUD & UI toggle" and add it to my ReShade mod.
"So what was the point of this post Ben?" Well, really, like I mentioned at the start, years from now, when I inevitably revisit this mod and look at what content I've shared I'll see this post and remember the journey I went on that was sparked by the creators Gametism & Frans Bouma and the wisdom, and expertise they shared with the community, and also we'll see if Oblivion will ever get it's own "official" Hide HUD/UI button from the developers :P
I hope you enjoyed this strange ramble, I think the main point I'm trying to hit home is there are so many awesome people sharing their knowledge online, and in the modding space, and although I don't have any knowledge of my own to share I wanted share these awesome peoples, who I've learned from in this endevoure, thank you for reading...
"As always, I've been Ben, you've been awesome!" I know that a cringe way to end a post, but I've been saying it for years so we all have to just accept it now.....okay bye!
