I've been working on a UI overhaul for Oblivion. Currently, I'm experimenting with wholly replacing the game's internal menu classes, to allow for radically altered behavior.
This video shows a simple test menu that lists the player's inventory alphabetically, with a count of the number of list items and a button to close the menu. (Later drafts, after this video, got the scrollbar working.)
Current goal is to create a SkyUI-style alchemy menu that allows for selecting ingredients modelessly and filtering them by effects.
