Oblivion

Unique download stats fix with NMM downloads

  • Comment
We came across a bug today that meant when users downloaded files through NMM the download was not being counted as a “Unique download” but it did add to the “Total downloads” counter. For those who don’t know, unique downloads are counted once per user, per file, per page. So if you download the same file 10 times it adds 10 to the total downloads counter but only 1 to the unique downloads counter. It’s a more accurate way of seeing the true number of unique individuals who have downloaded your files.

We’ve been able to run a script to recount all the unique download counters and I think some of you will be pleasantly surprised how high your unique download counters have jumped (I’ve seen some that have doubled, or even tripled, in count).

This bug only affected files with NMM enabled and those who downloaded the files through NMM.

I sort of had an idea just now, would it be possible to create a nexus app? The app would allow you to use it to reply to messages, see what's in the hot files section, recent updates of your tracked files etc. I think it would be a neat addition to an already successful site

This is very good. I think a little progres. in relation with a good method of plébiscite but not perfect.

Dear modders. I have say, This is good but not perfect. (and this is normal). This is not the download or the approve must say "you are good or not good (éventually a vote say "this is the mod than I wanted"). when you have many bugs in a mod by you, It is not a reason to stop all progress and créativity. If you have a mod with a maximum plebiscite... this is because you are the best or just because you have see the perfect banal mod ( ? ). your opinion on your work does not have to be guided by the blindness of others. Otherwise the lesser stones on your path, you will lose trust in you. Please say to you, this is a kind look and an encouragement but without really paying attention. Just a friendly comment. Themore important are that it works or will be operate with correctif or plugging, you leave a wink to other and sometimes it allowed you to have a positiv return. That is this, the life and this is cool. I like you,( but sorry it's not a proposition). Bye

Obviously, you are sober. Just have 3 or 4 beers and this post will become perfectly clear...

      3 or 4 Beers...

10 or 12 Skoomas more likely. It reads like he (or she or it) is bezapped to the helmstraps.

I believe this poster's first language is French, and that's complicating the English somewhat. If I'm right, they're saying "Mod authors, don't let a few pats on the back from fans make you think you're perfect. Keep working to make your mod perfect, not just the best of a few options."

Apolyna, this is right on several points and more whatever the translator I try to be clear at the level of thinking - which of course does not help - and no advantage if I try to add a touch of humor (or of skooma if you want). When you say "pats on the back" you are in the excellence. And just for me, perfect do not exist and not a possibility(this is a additional, mainly, for the others friends). And I am more "irish coffee" and french. Bye

Now that I understand that you are using a translator, I feel that my comment to Falkreath about your post may have been a bit rude.

I may not understand some of it, but I respect your personal opinion.

      Please forgive me.

Mildaura, no problem for me. I know that the use of a translator is handicapping and so I have not formalized. No problem

    Question:

When you say Unique downloads does it account for different versions of the file or optional versions?

I.E. I download version 1.0 for vanilla skyrim (a unique download is recorded) 6 months later I download version 1.8 for dawnguard. The .esp files have different names etc. Does that count as a unique download as well or does it recognize that it's a subsequent download of the original mod by the same user?

I know this is off-topic. But, I am wondering if anyone would like to do some reviews of Oblivion mods, as seen on the Skyrim Nexus site page.

Yes, Oblivion is a pretty old game, but there are still new/updated mods uploaded pretty much everyday. It would be nice for users and modders to see some objective reviews of some of the great Oblivion mods here and give some much needed kudos as well.

      @ Kittyeh

If you can log on to the Nexus with your username and password in both locations, then you should be able to use the forums in both locations as well. It's that simple. There are no browser restrictions or settings that I know of that would affect the forum threads.

I am not an expert on this subject, but I think if you can supply more specific details about
your problem, someone may step up to give you help.

I am not sure about unique downloads, but it reduced total downloads for, at least, one of my mods. And what, the hell, NMM has to do with it. NMM is supposed to be a client (user agent in HTTP semantics), and counting should be on server side. In normal application design, that is.
