Files of the month, cast your vote!

  • Comment
I just want to remind people to make sure they have cast their vote for file of the month this month. Each month every user of the site can vote for a file they think should be made file of the month. It doesn't have to have been released this month, although it's always nice to see new files getting voted for!

To vote for files visit the file page and click on the "
Vote for this file" icon. So far there are just under 600 votes...I think there should be more than that!

Make a mod author happy and vote for your favourite files today :D

Well, actually, I wouldn't want Lost Paladins to be voted on simply because it is too old...but once version 1.1 is released, I wouldn't mind.

I think the "files of the month" should be for files released during the current month BUT this is a new feature and there are a ton of mods that missed the window (like Lost Paladins) when the feature did not exist so I wouldn't think we should restrict it to "just" the newest releases. If this were implemented from the beginning, yes, current month releases only but this is a mid-release feature and it shows Dark0ne put a lot of thought into how it should be implemented...allowing all mods to be voted on and allowing for multiple files...thus allowing new AND old mods to be selected.

...The files I've voted for so far have never been on the shortlist when I've cast them so I always know it probably won't count for much. But I still do it just in case that vote bumps it onto the list.

If nothing else, it may encourage the author by seeing that someone voted for their mod. So even if the file is too new to be popular this month, the act of voting can still serve some good, and there's always next month.

Agreed, although I didn't know authors could see the votes cast for their file outside of reading the top 5 list. I don't have a file uploaded yet and can't see any count on the user's page. You're right about that being encouraging to modders. Best reason to vote.

My 'vote for a file released this month' thing can have it's drawbacks sometimes. I've just been reminded of that this week by the stunning Amaterasu no Yume and the UL River Ethe. I may have to bend the rule slightly for those. We'll see what gives them a run for their money over the next 4 weeks. <img class=">

I think when a file becomes a runaway leader and the result looks clear, like this month, it might discourage some from adding their vote. Can't be helped I suppose. But maybe if the votes given to all the files were displayed somewhere on their page those people might still feel their vote worth giving anyway.

I prefer to wait until the month's end to vote cos I always vote for a file released within that month. It's just how I like to do it. The files I've voted for so far have never been on the shortlist when I've cast them so I always know it probably won't count for much. But I still do it just in case that vote bumps it onto the list.

I think that New Frostmourne Sword by Jojjo will be the file of the month...or with many votes <img class=">.
