Site Design Survey and Feedback Group

  • Comment
How do you feel about the design of the Nexus Mods website? Since our sites current design went live in 2017 we’ve been listening to all the feedback, both good and bad, we've received from the community. Armed with that and having now filled our UI/UX designer position at the Nexus Mods office, our designer has been tasked with going through the current site layout and looking for ways it can be improved.

We’ve spent some time looking at the analytics on our website, with a focus on the user's flow and how they navigate through the site. Although useful, this information can only tell us so much. To get a true measure of the user's experience on our site, we would like to give you the opportunity to tell us what you think about Nexus Mods.

Initially, we’ll be focusing on the Nexus Mods homepage, navigation and mod pages. Starting out with a very short survey to gauge how our community feels about the experience we are currently offering.

You can find the survey here.

The survey will run from 15th April 2019 to 26th April 2019. When giving your answers please try to be as constructive as possible. Honest feedback is welcome, but if you don't like something we'd love to know how you think it can be made better.

At the end of the questions, you’ll notice we mention a Design Focus Group that will run a short time after the survey closes. Based on the responses we get from the community we’ll be hand-picking users across a wide demographic of site usage to participate in focused discussions about particular site features and functionality.

Our hope is to cast a wide net to capture the opinions of all types of users including new users, veterans of the site (who went through the last redesign with us), mod authors, image/video share users and those who like to engage with others in the posts section or forums.

It doesn’t stop there though. In the future, we may ask the community for more feedback on different parts of the site or invite additional users to our focus groups. Eventually, we plan to turn the designer’s creative eye to more areas of the site and Vortex. Make sure you pay attention to our site news for more on this over the coming months.

Thank you for participating!

You should check out Vortex. At the time of writing, it supports 54 games, with even more on the way.

NMM has been unsupported for a while.

I would be awesome is if I (and billions of other players) would download nexus mods to the Xbox one/PS4 instead of the mods I play have recommendations to mods that are on nexus. Plus, the number of mods I wanted to play on were lackluster.

Hopefully the Survey and Design Focus Group will prove useful in enhancing the NexusMods website. Solid plan in theory, but in practice I have my doubts over how seriously people might take it.

Hey guys! It is pretty cool right now but one thing drives me crazy!!! Every time when I update my mods I had to open the second tab with my mod files just to copy-paste file description to the newly uploaded version could you give us an option to select file description from the existing file and change it? I know it is not about navigation but I hate updating my mods on Nexus due to this!

Please get rid of that auto-playing video that always pops up. It messes with my sound settings when I mute it or try exit out of it.

The best idea I can think of for the Nexus would be for the forums to use the Google search engine. That way there would be less need to bother the mod authors with questions that have been asked many times before. The Google engine would be a giant step forward from the current search engines capabilities.

The second best idea would be for the game main page to allow screenshots to include punctuation such as quotes marks, commas, question marks, etc... like the screenshots on the mod pages are able to do.

I like the idea. Nexus always looking to improve the site. I got here in the few days just before the redesign so I didn't have much problem "adjusting". I never understood the criticisms of some other users because I didn't use the old site. I like the design of it though, I just think a few functionality features (like those you'll see mentioned in the comments) would be useful. Other than that, I like the overall design. Good job and I look forward to improvements and updates.

be nice if the user (me ) or others, had a way to manual enter the mod file address on the hard-drive as your manager seems to have a hard time identifying it

    I miss 2:
    1) not only "New Mods this Month" and "", but "new mod since ...." where I can set in how much months back I want to go
    2) "New Mods" shoud contain also listing of updates made of older mods, so that I see together all what is new (within the pariod selected), updates as well as complete new mods
