I'm seeing some sort of difference, but I have no idea why. What exactly is 'noise'?

'Noise' effect is like the "White Noise" or "snow" (as some people call it) appearing on the TV screen when the reception is bad (the little white dots acompanied with the the "hsssshhhhhh" sound ). The best place to observe the 'noise' effect in game is Cloud Ruler Temple when You can clrearly see the black 'noise' dots/pixels covering the white mountain side. iMO this looks ugly and this mod adresses this issue I realize this post is from 2010 but Im writting it for people who are still wondering what the 'noise' is

I downloaded this mod last night, and have been spending this evening giving it a run. I have to say that I'm impressed. I will definitely be viewing my Oblivion LOD in a new way, from now on.

The Medium texture is the one I like best. I did need to tweak it slightly, in Gimp, to match it to my custom LOD land textures, which aren't quite as dark, but it was well worth the effort. The new LOD really does have a good, solid feel, very convincing.

Hah! No more mountains with measles, or plains with pimples! Thank you :))  Endorsing now....

This is a very nice mod, using lower quality LOD textures this really helps a lot. I used strong at first when I was using vanilla textures, switched to a 2k LOD texture and found that it detracted from the texture quality and switched to the light version, which so far looks great with the higher resolution.

So basically this mod has a version for everyone, which one you use should be based on your LOD quality. Endorsed

My Goodness, I can't believe how this improved my Distant LOD view! And no PFS drops I can notice, even using the higher version. My rig can't handle HD LOD textures, but now I have no need for them!

    Thank you!

    Cheers!

Are there any compatibility issues with this file?

I had it working at first but now after installing Better Cities, RAEVWD, and some LOD texture / normal replacers I have the vanilla pepper effect again. I've tried recopying across the effect again with no luck. Is it possible there is a hidden copy in a .bsa somewhere?

Really great job on this! Just the right level of noise to fit the game. It even negates the need for high-res LOD textures!

The vanilla and strong image are the same. Iona would you be able to correct this?

By the way I use the strong one. I think it's excellent.

What exactly does this do? I notice no difference from the pictures.

    Agreed with wherewolf.

Either this is a photo upload mistake... or this mod really won't affect much visually. I'm going to assume it's the former, not the latter. <img class=">
