1. SHORT DESCRIPTION

This mod is, in fact, a merge of Rsdnt-Evle's Companion Neeshka mod ( which is the best companion mod in my opinion )
and my Unique Companions ( to let you create your companion ingame). If you don't know these mods
Why Advanced Companions? I just like buzzwords :P

2. FEATURES
- You can create your own companion with the original character generation menus. You can use custom races, birthsigns, classes, hairstyles etc.
- Your companion can do everything Neeshka can. See the Commands section below for a complete list.
- Companion is essential (only in the OBSE version)
- Your companion can follow you back when you take a Sigil Stone and exit random Oblivion Gates on their own, without requiring you to set a mark for them first (according to Vorwoda the Black, haven't tested this myself)

3. FAQ
Question: Is this intended to be playable?
Answer: Yes, it is. It may contain bugs though.
Q: Has the companion creation improved since Unique Companions?
A: Yes. The companion creator script doesn't copy all your equipment (gives clothes+armor sets+weapons to the companion),
and the creation system is more well-thought-out.
Q: Does this mod require Oblivion Script Extender?
A: There are two separate .esp files. There is a Standard version and an OBSE version.
As you can guess, the OBSE version requires OBSE. Without OBSE, the scripts can't make your companion essential.
Q: Do I have to start a new game?
A: Yes. The old barrel in Bravil is still there, but you shouldn't use it yet.
Q: Are scripts (and everything else) in this mod reusable?
A: (quoted from Companion Neeshka readme)
"You can use any part of this mod that may help you with your own mod,
but please do not repackage it as an adult only mod or some crap like that."
Q: How powerful is the companion?
A: Your companion's level is always equal to your level.
Q: Can I create more companions?
A: No.
Q: Can the companions cast spells?
A: They cast spells in combat like any NPC and can use healing spells if they're wounded, but that's all they can.

4. INSTALLATION

[Install OBSE, if you want to use the OBSE version]
1. Unzip the .esp files to Oblivion\Data
2. Select Advanced Companions Beta OBSE.esp, or if you don't want to have/don't have OBSE, Advanced Companions Beta Standard.esp
3. Start a new game/load a game saved at the sewer exit. If you start a new game, don't care about the face, class and birthsign data.
4. Find a small altar near the sewer exit (see image at TESSource)
5. Activate it and set your companion's face, race, class and birthsign
6. When done, activate your inventory and your companion will appear.
7. Go to the sewer exit and change your face, race, class and birthsign to the final values.

5. COMMANDS (quoted from Companion Neeshka readme):

D1. Commands
"Follow me, and equip your gear" - she will equip her best armor and weapons, and go into follow mode.

"Follow me and go casual" - she will equip any clothing she has, and go into follow mode. *note* as a limitation of the game, if she has no clothing, she will still wear armor to cover any exposed body parts.

"Wait here please" - she will wander the immdediate area for 72 hours, then return to the home point set by the player. If no home point has been set, she'll return to the Bloated Float where you found her.

D2. Combat:
"Attack any enemy" - her aggression will be set to 10, and she'll attack any enemy in the area, as long as the enemy wasn't an innocent that you attacked. if this is the case, use your start combat spell. You'll get a message confirming her aggression level. This is also listed in her stats.

"Only attack enemies that attack us" - her aggression will be set to 5, and she'll only attack enemies that directly target her or the player. her horse will be left on its own, even if she is on it.

"Don't attack at all" - she won't attack anything. only useful if you just wish to run past enemies.

D3. Equipment:
"Can I see your gear" - companion share mode

D4. Travel:
"Head to our meeting point" - teleports Neeshka to a point set by the player. useful for getting her out of Oblivion or any other no-exit worlds.

"We're done for now" - Neeshka will head for a home point set by the player, and return to her daily schedule.

"Let's meet here" - sets an escape point for Neeshka to teleport to, where she will wait for 72 hours, then return home on her own.

D5. Personal:
"You need money" - if Neeshka has no money, you can give her 200 gold so she can buy food if you leave her in a tavern or something. otherwise, she will steal it and get into trouble. This only shows up if she has no money.

"This will be your home" - set this area as Neeshka's home for her to return to if the player dismisses her. She will do daily routines in this area.

"You can sleep here" - set near an available bed, Neeshka will sleep in this bed when midnight comes around, or when she decides to take a nap.

"Spend your afternoons here" - sets a point for her to wander between 1pm and 5pm. Can be anywhere. recommended locations are in the town center so she can socialize, or on a balcony of your player home. could be outside by the stables. don't make this too far from her home location, as she only has 4 hours.

"How are your stats looking" - Neeshka will display a number of useful level, attribute, and skill levels which change to reflect her current class.

D6. Services:
"We need arrows" - Neeshka can fletch arrows using ingredients or upgrading arrows to the next level based on her marksman skill. If she can't fletch any, she'll tell you what she needs. If her skill is too low, switch her to ranged class.

"Look for ingredients" - she will search a large area near her current location for plants to harvest. If she doesn't move, then there is nothing for her to harvest in the area. Summon her or tell her to follow when you're ready to move on.

"Recharge our gear" - take any magic equipment from her inventory and put it into yours, then select this. she will summon a varla stone and apply it to your magic gear, recharging it. Your inventory must be empty of varla stones for this option to appear. if you don't have any gear that needs charging, the stone will be removed, to prevent the player from getting a free varla stone. this is the reason for the check to see if the player has no varla stones. if you'd rather use up your own stone or pay the ridiculous price for recharging, by all means skip this option.

"Do you have any hammers" - if your inventory of repair hammers is empty, you will get this option. She will give you 5 repair hammers to fix all your gear. you need to take her gear into your inventory to fix as well. this was done because keeping up with two sets of equipment to repair gets expensive. if you'd rather pay for repairs, then by all mean skip over this option.

D7. Horse:
"Tell your horse to go home" - if her horse is close by, you can tell her to send it to a location set by the player. this has to be in the tamriel worldspace. you can summon her horse into the waterfront of the Imperial City, but that's because it's actually out in the worldspace. And there is usually a paint horse hanging out by the steps leading into the city anyway.

"Your horse can live here" - sets this area as the home location for her horse.

"Summon your horse' - does just that. useful if you want her to send it to a specific location with the set home point. otherwise not needed, since she will auto-summon her horse when you mount yours.

7. POSSIBLE FEATURES

1. Companions learn the spells the player casts *
2. Companion's combat behavior depends on his/her class *
3. Companion creation when player's level is higher than 1

* Impossible without OBSE

8. CREDITS
Rsdnt-Evle made the dialogue options for controlling the companion, originally for the Companion Neeshka mod. It is amazing work, and is worth giving some kudos :D
