OVERVIEW
-------------
Top of the World (TOTW) is a different kind of house mod in several significant ways.
1) TOTW's interior is actually part of the exterior world. This means that you can see out the windows. To take maximum advantage of this, TOTW has windows all around and is situated on top of the IC Tower. As you might imagine, the view is fantastic!
2) TOTW has distant view enabled. So TOTW can be seen from a large portion of Tamriel, even as far away as Cloud Ruler Temple.
3) The TOTW house mod ("TOTW.esp") is unfurnished. A separate mod is included ("TOTWfurn.esp") that provides furniture, containers, and clutter. This means that you could use a mod, such as Amajor7's Imperial Furniture, to furnish TOTW yourself. It also means that someone else could create a furniture mod for TOTW.
4) Since TOTW is rather expensive, a low level player may not be able to afford it. So a free campsite is included ("TOTWcamp.esp"). The campsite, near the village of Aleswell, provides a rustic but serviceable home with a place to sleep out of the weather and plenty of safe storage.
5) TOTW includes an artifact, "The Shrine of Alignment" and a book that describes its origin and power. Although the Shrine does not produce any euber items, it does allow the player to convert powerful items, such as the Necklace of Swords, to items of similar power that are more aligned with the player's skill set.

INSTALLATION
-----------------
1) As always, you should make a save of your game before installing any mod. Also, check to see if you have an Oblivion\Data\DistantLOD folder. If so, you might want to back it up in case you later decide you want its distant views rather than that provided by TOTW.
2) Double-click on the file TOTW_R12.zip and extract all into your \Oblivion folder (the same folder that contains Oblivion.exe). This will place TOTW_ReadmeR12.txt in your Oblivion folder, TOTW.esp, TOTWfurn.exp, and TOTWcamp.esp in your Oblivion\Data folder and related files in \Data\Meshes\TOTW, Data\Textures\TOTW, \Data\Textures\Menus\Icons\TOTW, and \Data\DistantLOD. Since TOTW_R12.zip contains a very large number of small files, extraction may be a bit slow.
3) When you start Oblivion, click on "Data Files". The files listed should now include "TOTW.esp", "TOTWfurn.exp", and "TOTWcamp.exp". For now, click on the square to the left of each of the three files so that an "X" shows in each. Then Click 'OK'.
4) Now click on 'Play' and enjoy. You can verify that TOTW is there from anywhere near the Imperial City. You will see it sitting on top of the IC Tower. Note, it will not be visible from inside the Imperial City proper, but can be seen from outlying areas such as the IC Waterfront. If you don't see TOTW on top of the IC Tower, open the 'Options" dialog box from the Oblivion launcher and verify that the box next to "Distant Buildings" is checked. If it's still not visible, there may be a conflict with another mod. If so, try purchasing the deed as described below.

UPDATING to Rev. 1.2
--------------------------
Follow the steps outlined above under INSTALLATION. Your belongings should remain in their TOTW containers during the update, so you do not need to temporarily remove them. However, making a backup save before updating is always a good idea. Note: you must update all three .esp files (TOTW.esp, TOTWfurn.esp, and TOTWCamp.esp). The description in the data files list for each should start with "(R1.2)".
----------------
BUYING TOTW
----------------
Before you can travel to TOTW, you will need the deed. The deed to TOTW can be purchased at the Copious Coinpurse in the Imperial City Market District. The typical cost will be between 20,000 and 25,000 gold, depending on your merchant skill level and how well the merchant likes you. Once you purchase the deed*, the fast travel marker will be activated. (It's a landmark icon right in the middle on the city). If your character is at a low level and can't afford TOTW yet, he can stay for free at the TOTW campsite just east of the village of Aleswell along the Red Ring Road.
*Note: if the merchant does not have the deed for sale, verify that the mod "Lantern.esp" is not checked. If it is, uncheck it, restart Oblivion and reload a saved game that is not inside the Copious Coinpurse. Travel to the Copious Coinpurse, purchase the deed, exit the Copious Coinpurse, and save your game. Now, you can recheck (activate) Lantern.esp if you wish with no further conflicts.

CRITICAL NOTE
------------------
COMPANIONS WAITING IN TOTW
When you are in TOTW, if you ask a companion to wait while you wait, sleep, or travel elsewhere, you companion(s) will be lost or killed--DON'T DO IT! If you wait or sleep in TOTW while companions are with you, they will be fine as long as you did not ask them to wait. If you need companions to wait while you go elsewhere, there is a small waiting room for this purpose under TOTW. It can be accessed via the trap door next to the fireplace. Companions can safely wait for you in this room.

CHANGE LOG
---------------
Rev. 1.2
DOCUMENTATION:
Information added on Rev. 1.2.
TOTW.ESP:
An alternate method of traveling to TOTW has been added. See, FAST TRAVEL in the AUTHOR NOTES.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rev. 1.1
DOCUMENTATION:
a) All instances of "subdirectory" have been replaced with "folder".
b) The before installation instructions had been amended, advising the user to check for a pre-existing Oblivion\Data\DistantLOD folder and, if found, to make a precautionary backup.
c) A note has been added on how to avoid a conflict with the Lantern mod when purchasing the TOTW deed.
d) All references to the distant view of the IC Tower disappearing have been removed as this appears to be a non-issue.
TOTW.ESP:
a) The lighting in the Companion Waiting Room has been modified so most lights can be toggled on and off.
b) A bug has been squashed where, if you installed TOTW then played for a considerable length of time without purchasing the deed, the TOTW fast travel icon might appear intermittently.
TOTWCAMP.ESP:
The color and intensity of the interior lighting has been adjusted slightly.
