Details
I am always trying to add more water creatures to Oblivion, so I downloaded zenman53186's Water Nymphs.
It looked cool, but there were some visual things I thought could be better:
Skin
The skin texture originally had no scales. The "scales" were just a grid pattern printed on the normal map. There are now legit scale patterns on the skin and normal maps. Gills have also been added to the neck.
Eyes and Mouth
The original mod description said that it is based off of a "Wood Nymph model". I don't know what the original looks like, but I have a feeling that zenman53186 took that model's textures and dropped a blue filter over the whole thing, because the eye sclera, teeth, and inner mouth were all blue.
The eyes now have new textures, created from images of a fish's eye. The eye texture has also been remapped so that it does not bleed over the eyelids of the model.
The teeth have been colored white, and the inner mouth is pink.
Fingers and Toes
The fingers and toes have been slightly remodeled and retextured using images of a Creature From The Black Lagoon costume to give the fingers black claws and a slightly boney appearance, and to give the toes black claws with webbing between them.
Hair
I liked the original hair mesh, but it had 3 issues:
1. The material would occasionally turn the hair pitch black. You can even see this in user images on the mod's page. Easily fixed by changing the material.
2. The hair would occasionally have a visual bug outdoors that caused black squares to cover the Water Nymph's head. Easily fixed by running the mesh through blender.
3. The seaweed hair texture was not lined up with the direction that the hair was flowing in. A strand would flow diagonally along the creature's face, but the direction of the seaweed on that strand was flowing vertically. I tried repositioning the textures in blender, but it still never looked right, so I replaced the model entirely:
The hair mesh has been replaced with the "Nouk Lithium" wig mesh from Apachii Goddess Store. A new hair texture has been created by combining elements from the original Water Nymphs hair texture and the Apachii Goddess Store hair texture. Now the seaweed hair flows in the direction it should, and it shouldn't be turning black or displaying squares.
Optional Animations
In the original mod, the Water Nymph had human idle, get up, and out of combat walking animations, but would switch to Spriggan animations when in combat.
The human animations look bad on it, so I have included an optional file that replaces those animations with vanilla Spriggan animations.
Additionally, an optional download has been included for users of Idle Stagger and Recoil that adds idle stagger and recoil animations to the Water Nymph.
Requirements
Water Nymphs - who would have guessed?
Installation
1. Download and install Water Nymphs
2. Download "Water Nymph Makeover", unzip the file, drop the folder titled "data" in your Oblivion directory, and say "yes" to any requests to overwrite files.
If you want to give the Water Nymph the same idle/get up/out of combat animations as the vanilla Spriggan:
Download "Water Nymph - Spriggan Animations" unzip the file, drop the folder titled "data" in your Oblivion directory, and say "yes" to any requests to overwrite files.
If you use Idle Stagger and Recoil:
Download "Water Nymph - Idle Stagger-Recoil Animations" unzip the file, drop the folder titled "data" in your Oblivion directory, and say "yes" to any requests to overwrite files.
Special Thanks
1. zenman53186's Water Nymphs. Without them, this mod would not exist.
2. Apachii Goddess Store for the hair mesh.
