The time has finally come. Allows to seamlessly (almost) use oblivion enchanting systems to enchant and maintain hand-to-hand.

What it does:

This mod introduces few tiers of "Fist Wrap" weapons, which are hand-to-hand token weapons that you can enchant. When you equip Fist Wrap - the mod memorizes your selection and unequips it right after leaving you with bare hands, but as soon as you hit someone - you'll see the magic happening (literally) since the mod will apply enchantments of your selected Fist Wrap to your hand-to-hand attacks!

Fist wrap, technically, IS a weapon, and "Elemental Fists" ensures that the wrap's enchantment charge and durability are appropriately wasted whenever you make your attacks, so you will have to maintain it as any other Oblivion weapon.

Usage and equip/unequip flow is as seamless as current scripting capabilities allow (or at least I tried to make it so) with the only difference being that you will not see any UI indication in the inventory over the first wrap that you have currently "equipped".

About physical damage:

Fist wraps do not provide any additional physical damage so if you feel that the physical part of the damage is still really lacking (which is technically correct since max h2h damage in vanilla oblivion is only 10.5) - use some of the few hand-to-hand improvement mods present here on Nexus. I, personally, would suggest either adding such a mod after, say, character level 4-6 (they usually make low-level hand-to-hand too overpowered) or not adding them at all and relying on powerful enchantments, which could be quite fun as well.

Leveled lists:

Mod also adds said Fist Wraps to leveled list of traders, 4 tiers of wraps in total, different only in the icon and durability. Most of them are not enchanted, so you can enchant them to your heart's content. Few enchanted versions (balanced, not op, the same level of power as vanilla enchanted items) should be sold by enchanted weapon traders. If you having bad luck finding vendors offering Fist Wraps, see the spoiler at the end showing where you can find one (or a few) for certain.

Custom assets:

"Elemental Fists" doesn't replace any vanilla content but adds few new icons as well as some new amazing sound effects (a single one so far, for "unsheathing" your fists when they are enchanted) created by NimSound

se Wrye Bash. Don't forget to rebuild bashed patch so level list changes are not in conflict with anything else.

Can also be installed manually by simply copying contents of the archive into your data folder, but then you might possibly have leveled lists conflicts with other mods, so please, just use Wrye Bash.

Bugs/Peculiarities

Due to the hacky way that made this mod possible - enchantments that do an area of damage - will also damage the player.

I've added leveled list of fist wraps to a chest and a lvl 1 Fist Wraps just laying around. Both in the Vilverin ruins that you see right after you exit the severs. See screenshots below:

How does it technically work?

Phew, it was quite exhausting to write this mod, to be honest. It uses quite a few proxy levels. It's impossible to directly trigger enchantment on an actor, nor it's possible to equip a weapon but make it behave like a hand-to-hand. So instead, the Fist Wrap weapon is used as a proxy that you keep in your inventory and which mod can remember. Whenever you select a Fist Wrap - a spell is created and all Fist Wrap enchantment effects are copied to it. After that, whenever you do h2h attacks, the "Enchanted Hand to Hand" mod is used to cast the spell from the invisible activator and to also account for effects that affect caster (e.g. absorb). As the last step "Elemental Fists" removes the appropriate amount of durability and charge from the Fist Wrap weapon. It's a bit of a mess, but seem to work seamless enough


About credited Enchanted Hand to Hand mod

Enchanted hand-to-hand is used to account for enchantments that affect the user, so the ones that absorb hp, for example, will transfer hp to the player despite being cast from the activator. I've asked the author for permission but I don't think that he'll respond since he was last seen 7 years ago (and his permission setting most likely simply defaults, since back then no permission settings were present on nexus, afaik). So I'm not really sure what to do about that, it's quite important, wouldn't want to remove it :(
