Arcane Market by Crackomint
v1.0 - May 17 2021
=============
On Loredas and Sundas, a portal opens just outside the University, to a marketplace where wizards can relax and do some shopping. Where else are they going to go on weekends, the Temple? Hah!
This is a playable modder's resource, my solution to the problem of all the goodies I download being dropped into chests or overloading vanilla shops. Mage-themed, for my tastes. Rather than stress about permissions, body mods, differing definitions of "lore-friendly", or duplicating mods you might already have installed, I decided to release this version using only vanilla assets.
What you get out of the box is a market cell, accessible via a portal on the Imperial Isle, just to the right of the entrance to the Arcane University. This contains:
-A wide variety of vendors specializing in different wares, like weapons, staves, accessories, custom summons/companions. And clothing, divided into male and female-specific vendors, and one for unisex items. There's even a shady fellow to supply your necromancers, cultists and eeeeevil mages.
-A food court, where you can buy eats and booze and socialize with your peers, including a couple other shoppers.
-A mystic, who for a modest sum will gaze into your future. This is mostly for fun, though there is a chance consulting with her will raise your Mysticism skill.
-Want to put some challenge into acquiring your extra-special mod items, but worried about conflicts from editing vanilla dungeons? Stick them in Crazy Carlisle's Ruin Raider! This dungeon features branching paths you can take to the end--or double back and clear out the whole thing, if you want. I won't tell you how to play Oblivion.
Notes:
-The portal only appears on Loredas and Sundas, but the market is 24/7 should you teleport to the cell directly.
-This mod uses only vanilla assets. Any visual discrepancy from the screenshots is due to differing graphics replacers.
-The merchants all have their unique chests set up so that you can easily plop your goods into the relevant vendor. If you don't know how to do this, please refer to beginner CS tutorials such as those found on the Construction Set Wiki.
Requirements
=============
All the NPCs have unique greetings and dialogue. Lore-friendly, if your canon includes mages having fun. All of this is unvoiced. If you want to read it, or have your fortune told, you'll need -Elys- Universal Silent Voice, and by extension OBSE.
Compatibility
=============
The only edit this mod makes to the game world is to place the portal and marker to the right of the Arcane University doors. Tested compatible in a setup with Better Cities and Unique Landscapes: Imperial Isle installed.
Un/Installation
=============
Simply place the contents of the mod folder into Data, or use your mod manager to do so. To uninstall, uncheck and delete the .esp file and the readme in Data\Docs.
Permissions
=============
This mod is free to use, edit, and distribute.
