DESCRIPTION:

This mod gives the player The Luggage as companion. The Luggage is a complex multidimensional being that looks like a living treasure box that follows its master everywhere and it allows to carry any amount of loot with ease.

The Luggage is sulking around in the Kvatch Encampment, just activate it and it will take a shine on you and it will start following you around.

In the moment the Luggage decides the player is its friend a "Summon Luggage" lesser power will be added to your spells, with that you can call it anytime even from far away. After all it is a luggage, it might get lost.

This mod is inspired by The Luggage[1] from Terry Pratchett books, but unlike the original creature this luggage is fairly shy and does not like to fight.

It is possible, however, that if its master is in danger the Luggage goes berserk and starts chomping enemies. Beware!

The Luggage stats are based on a Black Bear of one level lower than the player with magic immunity and a Umbra-like healing regeneration.  The Luggage is Essential, so it cannot die.

Activating The Luggage will give you access to its contents.  To active the Luggage while Sneaking gives more options, you can order The Luggage to stop following you, you can use other two drawers, and it can be used as a bed.

If you are away from The Luggage you can summon it with the spell, it will appear nearby and happily follow you again.

The Luggage can also help to sell quickly the contents of the drawer to merchants.

This effect is obtained giving the player a piece of paper representing all the items inside the first drawer when he or she barters. Sell this list and the whole first drawer content will be transferred to the merchant. Oblivion seldom does not like this operation, save before attempting!

N.b., Honest merchants are not interested in stolen goods, so while bartering with honest merchants the list will not appear if there are stolen goods inside the first drawer.

This mod is meant to replace an older one of the same theme[2], I implemented the missing functions:

. The Luggage is now more quiet, its feet have the sound of deer feet and its teleport is silent. The combat sounds are still from the Spider Daedra.

. The Luggage can go berserk and defend its master if the master get attacked.  The effect lasts two minutes or until the end of the fight.

Technically, each time The Luggage notices that the player health went down there is one fifth chance that its Aggression goes to 10 and its Confidence goes to 75; normally both values are 0. So normally The Luggage does not fight, even defensively.  Confidence 75 means that The Luggage, when berserk, is
fairly brave. But it still might decide to flee.




INSTALLATION:

Unpack on the Data Oblivion folder or, better, use Wrye Bash.



UNINSTALLATION:

If installed manually, delete the following files / directories:

Data\etbluggage.esp
Data\Docs\readme etbluggage.txt
Data\meshes\etbluggage
Data\textures\etbluggage



POSSIBLE CONFLICTS:

The only possible conflicts are with mods that alter the Kvatch Encampment where the Luggage is placed.  The mod does not change anything else.



BUGS:

To have such a companion may trigger the "Items Disappearing from Containers" Oblivion bug[2].

After changing the AI from sulking to follow the Luggage may need few seconds to actually start following the player.



HISTORY:

4 - make The Luggage able to breathe water

3 - minor change how to compute the time to stop Luggage berserk time.

2 - change The Luggage Personality from 10 (as Black Bears) to 80. This ensures a +20 to Disposition and should stop peaceful but aggressive NPC to attack it.  Savlian Matius, the acting Captain of the Kvatch guard, among others shown this behavior.
  - reduce the chance of The Luggage going berserk from 1/3 to 1/5 each time the master loses health.

1 - the mod started from the existing luggage mod[2].
  - make the feet and the summon spell more quiet.
  - add the chance that The Luggage goes berserk if the master is in danger.



ACKNOWLEDGMENTS:

I ripped the Luggage model from the Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul mod[4], which in
turn used the Always Z model. Always Z allows the use with proper credit[5].
This mod started with[5], that mod is actually mine too. But I forgot the
website credentials.
