About this mod

A trio of mods that enhance and expand the amount of exterior lighting throughout the Imperial City, Cyrodiil, and the Shivering Isles.

Permissions and credits
More Streetlights enhance and expand the amount of exterior lighting throughout the Imperial City, Cyrodiil, and the Shivering Isles. They're intended to be used with mods that make nighttime genuinely dark such as Darker Nights or All Natural, for people who want more options than just using torches or Night Eye everywhere. If you haven't done anything to change the default blue "darkness," it'll only be extra lamps and strange green coloring where more illumination was added.

The Cyrodiil and Shivering Isles mods also include some minor object and landscape corrections not covered in the Unofficial Oblivion Patch -- floating trees, mismatched terrain tiling, misaligned objects, etc. There's also a separate version of More Streetlights-IC that adds extra lighting to the IC bridges and the arena for players who aren't using the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, and one for More Streetlights-Cyrodiil for players who are using the Knights of the Nine DLC and want a couple lampposts at the Priory of the Nine.

DETAILS

  • Extra lampposts, wall lanterns, and other light sources added to the Imperial City districts, Bruma, Cheydinhal, Chorrol, Anvil, Skingrad, Bravil, Leyawiin, and New Sheoth, along with the city exteriors
  • Extra light sources added to most smaller settlements, inns, and other significant locations throughout Cyrodiil and the Shivering Isles
  • Added illumination to light sources that didn't emit light
  • Used lights with a radius that was reasonably wider, and/or adjusted positioning of the illumination to be more efficacious
  • Used a new timer script that's closer to dusk and dawn: lights are on from 8pm-6am instead of 6pm-7am
  • Most fires and visible lantern flames are extinguished during the daytime
  • Path grids adjusted when necessary
  • Added trees and buildings that'd be visible from the other side of city walls, and lighting that's realistically visible from outside of the cities
  • Many more details listed in the ReadMe files, including how to see lights from further away via the .ini file

COMPATIBILITY

More Streetlights mods are designed with the default layouts of the Imperial City, Cyrodiil, and the Shivering Isles, and while using the Darker Nights mod and without HDR. I haven't tested them with All Natural's darkness settings, but theoretically there shouldn't be any unusual problems.

  • Incompatible with mods that overhaul the Imperial City, Cyrodiil, and the Shivering Isles -- Better Cities, Open Cities, ImpeREAL, etc.
  • Incompatible with mods that add or change the default lighting, including Real Lights
  • Limited compatibility with Lights of Oblivion and More Streetlights-Cyrodiil (some duplicate lights, and the light colors are noticeably different)
  • Limited compatibility with Illumination Within and other window light mods that add extra lighting (occasional duplicate lighting elements)
  • Compatible with Animated Window Lighting System
  • The lights and timer script are unique to this mod, exterior lighting added with other mods will not be affected
  • I haven't tested these mods with Oblivion Graphics Extender, major overhauls such as OOO, or with weather mods that affect when lights turn on, so I don't know if there'll be any issues, but I do know that sometimes OBGE doesn't play nice with other mods

Since these mods add more lighting, they can affect your game's performance. I tried to minimize the impact on Oblivion's older engine by not adding more lights than necessary or overlapping light elements too much. Results will vary according to your computer, graphics card, brightness and other settings, amount of mods, and whether or not FPS is already an issue for you. If you're already running with max settings and dozens of significant mods, you probably won't see any difference.

While there are some things I'd like to do, for the foreseeable future I have no plans to make patches or different versions of More Streetlights.

INSTALLATION

More Streetlights only uses default resources and doesn't require extra files. Simply place the .esp files you want to use into your \Oblivion\Data folder and activate them in the launcher or with your mod manager program:
  • drw-MoreStreetlights_Cyrodiil.esp
  • drw-MoreStreetlights_IC.esp
  • drw-MoreStreetlights_SI.esp

drw-MoreStreetlights_Cyrodiil-Kot9.esp and drw-MoreStreetlights_IC-noUOP.esp are located inside the \SPECIAL folder, if you wish to use them instead.
Simply deactivate and/or remove the .esp files to get rid of this mod.

It's okay to share the More Streetlights mods privately between gamers, as long as the unaltered ReadMe files are included. If something happens to me or NexusMods.com, it's okay to make them available through another free source as long as the unaltered ReadMe files are included.

It's NOT okay to distribute them with other mods without my consent, or for profit.

ALL MODS ARE PROVIDED AS-IS, I'll make necessary changes if possible, use at your own risk.
