maczopikczo is co editing this mod and he already has added a package to provide you with additional textures and lod options. have fun with this stuff and many thanks to mac for his creative contribution!

i added an optional terrain noise replacer - the one i use in my setup. if you like it use it!

Do you plan to give shivering isles the same treatment?  These are great!

ha, thanks for asking! i am more or less retired from modding. but i appreciate that people still play oblivion as i do
i don't know if i will look deeper into modding  oblivion again.

There's no such thing as retirement from modding ;P

so you can call that alternatively an "inactivity" for a significant period of time
i still support my existing mods without expanding them.

Hi, i'm sure this is a great mod, based on the screenshots and those submitted by users.

Before applying your mod, i had the following relevant environmental/landscape mods on :-
-4x Textures upscaled, QTP3, Natural Environments 2.1.3, Detailed Terrain series, and Darker Dungeons & Nights. I am using HDR.

Might i just report that i encountered the following strange effects after applying your Darker LoD 2K. it might not be your mod causing the end result, it could just be that mixing this particular group of mods gave rise to some incompatibility or inconsistency :-

-in general, during daylight, everything becomes brighter. initially i thought everything became more acute, but after closely studying my own before & after pictures, i realised that everything was clearer because it was brighter. shine areas (like those affected by bloom) became more intense, and to most accurately describe this to you, i would say that "the sun behind me became stronger".
-during daylight, the skybox does darken to a deeper blue, especially the sky at the far horizon, i am quite pleased with this isolated effect
-at night, the same result as daytime. it lifted my already darkened night (by way of NE and darker dungeons & night) into a 'lighter' night, not as light & blue like vanilla, but not as dark as before. if i lit a torch, the torch (source of light) would seem to 'burn more intensely', causing brighter surroundings and therefore make objects normally cloaked by darkness to be more revealing.

since it is illogical to remove the previously installed mods (which correctly applied the desired effect) in order to accommodate just this one, i might save the .omod i created out of it, and if i ever start from vanilla again, that time around i might try out your sole mod instead, just to see the difference.

great mod & effort put in.

thanks for feedback! difficult to say but other mods changing landscape and lod, the loadorder and enb and rehade may have a severe impact on the result. i tested with vanilla and oblivion reloaded, terrainshader enabled. this is my  my standard setting. there are endless settings (especially oblivion reloaded terrain and enb shader) that you can check and fiddle with to find an optimal setting. the best is to start with default and to save all settings you like as a reference.

Thank you very much for this!

While I certainly appreciate LOD generators, these days I rather like the simplicity of being able to just drag replacers into Bain, and considering I use many of Maczopikczo's textures already, his darker version is ideal.
This way, there's no fuss, no risk of something going wrong (or, if it does, fixes are easy), and the results are very close to what I'd get from generating LODs myself.
I'm using, as stated, Mac's version, the Terrain Noise Replacer, plus Koldorn's. Beautiful.

Also, these are the best mountain LOD replacers I've ever seen for the Bruma area. Those bare mountains close up, have always looked terrible, but now they are much improved. Of course, we're still stuck with the poor models... it wasn't until Skyrim that Bethesda learned to make mountains, but even so.. this looks VASTLY better. Cheers!

Thanks Sonja. It's great to hear they meet your expectations. All credit and kudos is to xrayy, as it's his work. Mine is only a tiny tweak :)

Guys, try it with Koldorn's LOD Noise Replacer. Totally worth it. Personally I use the strong version, but any of those three is a step up from vanilla or OR.

I think, it's the best LOD textures of all time, I like both versions! Absolutely in the collection... What about shivering isles?

Is this compatible with Bevilex's Graphics Modlist ?

if you try it (just make a backup of the file folder before installation if you do not use a mod organizer) you may answer this question. i don't know anything about this mod list. since this is a texture replacer there should not be any compatibililty problem at all!

Tried and tested. Very good textures. Change is subtle enough, but clearly noticeable. And they work in favour of the overall feel. Thanks xrayy :)

Screenshots look very promising, although I don't know how my prehistoric rig will cope with it. Please, would you be able to specify - for compatibility reasons - what landscape changing mods you use, if any - I mean UL and such.

it would be great if you could test the textures with your rig. i doubt that the impact will be severe. just make a temporary copy of the the appropriate folder before installation if you do not use mo. i do use the ul package but i combined it with high res gras and terrain mods. i don't like the yellow tinted vanilla gras and gras lod so i customized the landscape textures for my own needs.

Okay, I'll give it a try, but mind you, it is the primal laptop - the oldest one around, straight from the natural science museum. Good as benchmark, though ;)

you make me curious about the specs of your laptop. i think you need at least win xp, 2GB memory and dedicated graphics with 1GB ddr3 ram otherwise even oblivion will be no fun...

Close shot :D It's Win7 with 1GB DDR2 RAM integrated graphics, i3 2.40GHz CPU, and 4GB memory. But I spend more time making and testing textures than actually playing, because I rarely go above 10 FPS :D I keep telling myself it's time to get a new one, but after each project I finish in my real life job I find myself spending it all on travels... But I swear I'm curious to see what Oblivion looks like on a proper rig, so maybe not for my current commission, but for the next one I'll finally call this laptop a DVD player like I should have already.

all right, i see. old integrated graphics - probably intel. seems to be the worst case for a gamer . i tried some years ago. it works and 10 fps with low resolution seems realistic . my first absolutely smooth and stutterfree expirience with my heavily modded oblivion is now with my i5 8600k, 16gb ram, ssd and 1070gtx . this seems to be a good mid range gaming config. how do you produce such beautiful pics with this rig? must be a slide show with this image setting.

Ha, surprisingly it's not totally hopeless. I take screenshots at 1920x1080, but it's quite possible to play without crashes at 1360x768. Not very smoothly, but mate I'm an addict and need a shot of Oblivion even when it stutters :D Your specs sound reasonable.

Mate, you wouldn't believe. I've been waiting more than 10 years for this junk to give up – I decided to buy a new one only when it happens – but it keeps surprising me with its stubborn longevity, and with tricks it can still pull off. :\
By the way, I'm sending you a PM.

Buddy, if I tried this on my PC, it would lag the hell out.
Such nice textures though. I'm gonna need a new PC XD

a midrange gpu (2GB video mem at least), reasonable ini settings and a quad core cpu should be sufficient for that. the fps drop in this case does not exist or is neglegible. i will offer a 1k version for those with rusty rigs
