About this mod

ElderEdit is a saved game editor for Elder Scrolls Oblivion. It allows you to customize any spells, potions, clothing, armor, or weapons that you've created or enchanted in the game. The changes do not require any additional mods. The utility includes many spells and enchantments that aren't listed in-game, so it can be very fun to use.

Ever want to resurrect dead bodies for an hour and build an army of zombies? Ever want to command all the townspeople in burma to follow you on a quest? How about adding conjured armor to targets and paralyzing them so you can steal their clothes & armor? Or shooting 1000 damage fireballs over 1000 feet and killing everyone in the vicinity? This is the utility for you.

I wrote this 12 years ago just after oblivion came out so that I could experience the full breadth of content that the published game wouldn't allow. I've just recently replayed oblivion and realized again how fun this utility is, so I've decided to re-post it here for posterity. The last version I published was 1.2 on some mod site in 2006 that no longer exists. I've discovered, to my delight, that there are still copies floating around that people still use (particularly xbox gamers), so I'm very happy to provide another official release: 1.3.

This is version 1.3 and the only thing that's changed from 1.2 is it shouldn't need the shared dll; it should function as a stand-alone executable. Nothing about the functionality has changed. I added my email to the about box just in case anyone has a burning request (after 12 years probably not). I left it out of the original because I was afraid of getting sued by Bethesda, but I doubt that was ever actually likely ;) I may eventually publish the source code on github.

USAGE
The usage is very simple, unzip the file and run the executable. Click the load button and open one of your saved games (be sure to make a backup first). It will scan the file and find all the spells and potions you've created, and all the clothing, armor, and weapons you've enchanted and display them all in the list. Expand the list and double click each one and change to your heart's desire. When you're done, click save. That's it.

NOTE: When altering spells remember that the magicka cost of the spell is calculated by the game. e.g. If you request "command creature" on level 50 for 60 seconds you'll end up with something that costs around 500 magicka which you may not have. To get around this you can alter the enchantment on a piece of clothing or armor that increases your intelligence by 10000, then you can use any spells you want. Also note that when you're editing potions, the potion list is from everything you've ever created (even items you've used and/or sold). So you may discover you no longer have the potion you edited. Try naming a new potion in game, and then finding it in the utility.
