Mod Name: Spells Of The Eternal Storm

Series: The Eternal Storm
Number: 2

Author: Myrystyr
Date: 27/05/2018
Categories: Magic

Requirements: None

DESCRIPTION

Hello, and welcome to a companion to my Storm Elf Knights - http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/47887/? - mod.

The Storm Elves and their Storm Knight class originate from a personal mod, called MyCharGenM, which includes a number of personal custom races, classes, enchanted items, player-friendly buildings, and spells. As the mod is constantly evolving (at the time of writing on its 74th iteration), and frequently used as a testing ground for new ideas, I will not be uploading it any time in the foreseeable future. I can however share some of its contents piecemeal.

For role-playing purposes, assume that the passage of Storm Elves through Tamriel has caused a disturbance in the flow of magical energy in the local region of the cosmos. In their wake, sorcery has subtly changed some of its workings.

In this mod you will find a number of personal spells I use with most of my characters. Some of them were originally developed way back when I was playing Oblivion on the PlayStation, that's how reliable I consider them. While they are available in my personal mod from custom NPCs, in this mod I have elected to dynamically add them to existing vendors.

CONTENTS

This mod contains the following esps:

1 - EternalStormSpellsResource: New (COPY) IDs are made for each spell. No other change is made, and no cell or worldspace is affected. This is provided as a modders resource.

2 - EternalStormSpells: The spells are dynamically added to a number of vendors across Cyrodiil. This is playable immediately. See below for full details on the spells and vendors.

Tools used: Construction Set, File Explorer, Notepad, 7-Zip.

INSTALLATION

1 - Extract to a temporary location
2 - Copy the esp of your choice to use as desired
3 - Tick the esp in Oblivion Launcher to use in game

UNINSTALL

1 - Untick whichever esp you are using
2 - Delete the esp

SPELLS

The following spells are included in this mod:

PersonalBreakEnterCOPY "Enter Unseen" (Originally developed for getting into Agarmir's house, also useful for mod dungeons that hide their keys too well): Chameleon 100 for 3 on Self, Open 100 on Target; Alteration, Expert, cost 302

PersonalBurnUndeadCOPY "Smite" (cast a healing spell or two while the undead flee from you): Fire Damage 6 for 6 on Touch, Turn Undead 100 for 6 on Touch; Destruction, Apprentice, cost 62

PersonalBurnUndead2COPY "Smite Mightily" (your wrath at the sight of the unholy waxes even greater): Fire Damage 9 for 9 on Touch, Turn Undead 100 for 9 on Touch; Destruction, Journeyman, cost 139

PersonalFastTravelSpellCOPY "Jaunt" (in reference to Alfred Bester's The Stars My Destination): Fortify Speed 100 for 1 on Self, Fortify Athletics 100 for 1 on Self, Feather 100 for 2 on Self; Restoration, Apprentice, cost 42, PC Start Spell

PersonalFearCOPY "Frightful Shock" (now you get to give the jump-scares): Demoralise 100 for 5 on Touch, Shock Damage 5 for 5 on Touch; Illusion, Journeyman, cost 118

PersonalHealCOPY "Healing Screen" (a good way to get the Shield effect for enchanting without taking Alteration as a major skill): Restore Health 3 for 10 on Self, Shield 20 for 10 on Self; Restoration, Apprentice, cost 60, PC Start Spell

PersonalSlapDownCOPY "Slap Down" (originally a means of getting hold of these powers without having to find a Doomstone): Damage Health 5 on Touch, Paralyze for 1 on Touch; Illusion, Apprentice, cost 56, PC Start Spell

PersonalSlapHardCOPY "Slap Hard" (slap them so hard they shut up): Damage Health 10 on Touch, Fire Damage 5 for 2 on Touch, Paralyze for 1 on Touch, Shock Damage 5 for 2 on Touch, Silence for 3 on Touch; Illusion, Journeyman, cost 110

PersonalSlapHarderCOPY "Slap Into Tomorrow" (for when you really mean it): Damage Health 10 for 4 on Touch, Fire Damage 5 for 4 on Touch, Paralyze for 3 on Touch, Shock Damage 5 for 4 on Touch; Illusion, Expert, cost 280

PersonalSnowBurstCOPY "Snowball Fight" (Frozen version of Weak Fireball): Frost Damage 5 in area 5 for 3 on Target; Destruction, Novice, cost 12 (below auto-calculate)

PersonalSoulTrapCOPY "Tear Out Soul" (I'm sure we all have a custom spell like this at some point): Drain Health 100 on Touch, Soul Trap for 1 second on Touch; Destruction, Apprentice, cost 35

PersonalSparkBurstCOPY "Burst Of Sparks" (because sometimes I don't feel like questing for Weak Fireball or Fingers Of The Mountain): Shock Damage 5 in area 5 for 2 on Target; Destruction, Novice, cost 14 (below auto-calculate)

PersonalStingingSlapCOPY "Stinging Slap" (I don't feel like I know a new character until they've cast this spell): Frost Damage 3 for 4 on Touch, Shock Damage 4 for 3 on Touch; Destruction, Novice, cost 25, PC Start Spell

PersonalStingingSlap2COPY "Burning Slap" (for venturing into Oblivion): Damage Health 10 on Touch, Fire Damage 5 for 3 on Touch, Shock Damage 5 for 3 on Touch; Destruction, Apprentice, cost 57

PersonalRewardSpellLDCOPY "Steal Life Essences" (originally the reward for a mini-quest involving a Storm Elf NPC, based on an early weapon enchantment): Absorb Fatigue 10 on Touch, Absorb Health 10 on Touch, Absorb Magic 10 on Touch; Restoration, Novice, cost 25 (below auto-calculate), Disallow Absorb/Reflect, Immune to Silence

The following spells are available from Edgar Vautrine in the Imperial City: Smite, Jaunt, Healing Screen, Slap Down, and Stinging Slap.

The folowing spells are available from Druja in Skingrad: Smite, Snowball Fight, Tear Out Soul, Burst Of Sparks, Stinging Slap, Burning Slap.

The following spells are available from Delphine Jend in Bravil: Frightful Shock, Slap Down, Slap Hard, Slap Into Tomorrow, and Stinging Slap.

The following spells are available from Athragar in Chorrol: Enter Unseen, Smite, Smite Mightily, Jaunt, Healing Screen, and Steal Life Essences.

I have included a copy of the script, in case you wish to edit it to remove some spells from vendors or change which vendors have these spells. I suggest you save it as SpellsEternalStormScriptModified before making any changes.

CONFLICTS/ISSUES

I am reasonably confident that any crashes or unusual behaviour I experienced are due to other mods, or too many mods. Or it might be my laptop's clear preference for downloading and installing Windows updates heedless of my needs.

Known Issues: None at all.

Skimpiness Factor: No, I haven't memorised Otto's Instant Strip spell.

Playtest Report: These spells served many of my characters very well for quite some time. Jaunt and Stinging Slap probably get used the most. The school of Illusion is a lot more interesting when you start out with more than Starlight.

Due to technical difficulties, I am unable to provide screenshots for the foreseeable future. Comments about the lack of pictures only demonstrate that the description/readme was not read. Thank you for your understanding.

And, really, you need a picture of spell effects you've already seen in play?

IN CLOSING

This mod was created using the latest version of the Construction Set, and playtested with The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition. Although Shivering Isles and Knights Of The Nine were installed at the time, they are not necessary for use of this mod. Similarly, while OBSE was installed it was not used during play. Nor was any other utility installed or used.

A good and useful ReadMe is a balance between clarity and brevity, and sometimes it is necessary to err on one side for the benefit of the other. All liability is disclaimed for any issues that may arise due to misreading, skimming, failing to read, ignoring, misunderstanding, dismissing, modifying or editing without playtesting first, etc.

These mods are my way of sharing some of the fun I have playing Oblivion, and these spells are my gift to fellow gamers. If you like my mods, please give a thumbs up so others can know they are appreciated; and, feel free to recommend them to others. Thank you for reading, and enjoy your gaming.
