About this mod

This mod makes the DLC weapons and armor for the Knights of the Nine DLC lighter (in terms of weight) to match a similar mod's weight values.

It bugged me that the DLC equipment weight was ridiculous just like the rest of the game's armor and weapons which is why I used mdczer's Lighter Gear mod to make all gear and weapons lighter. Everything was going well till I realized I couldn't find anything to make the Knights of the Nine equipment lighter and match the same weight (or maybe I didn't look hard enough) so I made this mod. I figured I should share it here even though the Oblivion modding community probably isn't that active as it once was.

Only DLC equipment was modded in this mod so obviously you need the Knights of the Nine DLC to use this mod so if you don't have that DLC don't use this mod.

Heavy Armor (Crusader)
  • Cuirass - 20
  • Boots - 5
  • Gaunlets - 5
  • Greaves - 10
  • Helmet - 5
  • Shield - 15 (unless you obtain the equipment at level 1 - 6 in which case it's 12 as that was the default weight for that leveled version)

Light Armor (Crusader)
  • Cuirass - 10 (unless you obtain the equipment at level 1 - 10 in which case the weight will be less than 10 -- NOTE: The level  1 - 6 version weight was/is bugged (it's at 35 by default) so I altered the weight to 7 just like it is in the Unofficial Oblivion DLC Patch since I realize that not everyone can install that patch if they don't have all the DLC)
  • Boots - 1
  • Gauntlets - 1
  • Greaves - 5 (unless you obtain the level 1 - 6 variant in which case its weight will be 4.5)
  • Helmet - 1
  • Shield - 1

Weapons

  • Mace - 7
  • Sword - 5
  • Axes - 10
  • Umaril's Sword - 10

The basic "Knights of the Nine Shield" weight was modified to match the light armor set of the crusader gear (which is 1). The basic "Knights of the Nine Cuirass" weight value was at 9 so it was left unaltered.

Remember, I matched the weights to mdczer's Lighter Gear mod! If you like the weight values found here I recommend you use mdczer's mod also!

The Heavy Armor set weight was matched to what the value was for Ebony Armor in that mod and the Light Armor set weight was matched to what the value was for Glass Armor in that mod. The weapons weight was set to match the same weight they had for Ebony weapons.

Installation should be simple since it's just an ESP file. All you need to do is make sure it's in your Oblivion/Data folder and activated. To uninstall it just remove the file or deactivate it. Load order doesn't matter as long as it's below the Knights of the Nine esp file (and the Unofficial Oblivion DLC patch as well if you have that installed but you could just put this mod above that one but it would result in some item weight values not matching up) and above your bashed patch (unless you have another mod that modifies weight values for the DLC equipment in which case whichever mod is lower on the load order is going to override the settings from the one above).

Is the mod lore-friendly? I wouldn't know, I don't know what unit of measurement Bethesda was using for their equipment. Since the carry weight is like 300 for high strength characters I assume they wanted to use pounds but then again a 40 pound sword and a 6 pound dagger is a bit too heavy. I guess you could imagine that the assigned weight values are in Kilograms rather than pounds but then that would mean your character is a titan if they can carry hundreds of kilograms worth of equipment so maybe you could download a backpack/carry weight mod to help make it all realistic? It's up to your preferences in the end but I'm frankly happy just going with the weight values as found in this mod and mdczer's.
