About this mod
Automagically converts 1-second duration magic effects into instant magic effects when crafting spells or enchanting weapons, where appropriate.

What do I mean by 'where appropriate?' Simple: there are 16 specific magic effects this gets applied to, and the rest are left alone. Basically, no sane individual would want to have a 1-second 'over time' effect for these 16 effects instead of just an instant effect, yet the spellmaking/enchanting interface doesn't allow for instant effects for some reason.
Without further ado, the list of magic effects that get converted:
- Fire Damage
- Frost Damage
- Shock Damage
- Damage Magicka
- Damage Health
- Damage Fatigue
- Damage Attribute
- Restore Attribute
- Restore Fatigue
- Restore Health
- Restore Magicka
- Disintegrate Armor
- Disintegrate Weapon
- Absorb Fatigue
- Absorb Health
- Absorb Magicka
Please note that not all of these effects are enabled in spellmaking/enchanting anyway, and this mod does not enable them. It just includes these effects in case you have modded your game such that they are available to you.
Also, just so you know, Oblivion has always treated 0-duration and 1-duration as exactly the same in terms of spell cost (magicka, gold, and skill requirement costs), so this shouldn't ever screw anything up for you. It's basically just fixing the busted spellmaking/enchanting implementation.
Installation/Use
To install, either extract the contents of the zip file to your Oblivion root directory, or just use any mod manager. You need OBSE too, but what's new, right?
Use is as simple as creating spells/enchanted weapons as you would normally. The moment you exit the spellmaking/enchanting interface, this mod will automatically convert the applicable magic effects. There is also an included .ini file (Data\ini\InstantMagicEffects.ini) where you can disable this mod from affecting either spellmaking or enchanting individually, should you only want to avail yourself of one of those rather than both.
