I decided that the version I made for my self was not suitable as a release for Nexus so I rebuilt the mod completely, changing the “disenchanted” weapons to level with the player. The enchanted “Dawn/Dusk Blades of Elemental Power” appear in game at level 30+ and the Dawn/Dusk Bringer swords (in the possession of Thadon and Syl), of which you will get to choose only one, have been rebalanced. All of the enchanted blades now better match the powers of the original Dawnfang/Duskfang sword, for better immersion.


I loved the appearance of Dawnfang and Duskfang but the sword(s) abilities seemed lackluster. A while back I decided to throw together a quick mod that would fix this by simply adding the two swords to the game in an "un-enchanted" form, this way the player can enchant the weapons however they wish. Dawn and Dusk Disenchanted adds two non-magical swords using the Dawnfang/Duskfang appearance to the weapon smiths of Bliss and Crucible and version 2.2 adds the swords to leveled loot lists to introduce them into the game in a more organic fashion. Be aware that the chance for the swords appearing in the shops from week to week is not 100%, you may have to keep an eye open for them to appear.

The main file does not touch the vanilla Dawnfang/Duskfang weapon but the optional file provided does, adding a leveled weakness to fire (for Dawnfang) and frost (Duskfang) as well as weakness to magicka to both weapons. The optional file can be used with or without the main file.

This mod adds two artifact type weapons to the game, just for fun. Dawn Bringer is given to Thadon, the Duke of Mania and Dusk Bringer is given to Syl, the Duchess of Dementia. Rewards for their loyalty and service to the Mad God (see screenshots for the weapons stats). The primary ability of these two weapons is an instant kill similar to Mehrunes Razor, called Vorpal Strike. You will also find two elemental Dawn and Dusk blades that are sold by Cutter and Dumag, for a small fee. These blades won’t appear in game until level 30 (25% of appearing per week), so keep a tab on Cutter and Dumag's inventory.

- PLEASE NOTE -

May require starting a new game for all the changes to take effect. In other words, if you have already loaded a cell/room with Syl or Thadon without this mod installed then Dawnbringer/Duskbringer will most likely not be added to their inventory. If for any reason you cannot acquire these weapons through the NPC's that possess them I have placed all of them in a container in the testinghall. Use console command "coc testinghall" to teleport to this location.

Installation:

I recommend using Oblivion Mod Manager for installation. Feel free, however, to manually install the files by unzipping the downloaded file to your data directory then activate the .esp file in your Mod Manager or game launcher.

Place "Dawn and Dusk Disenchanted.esp" below "Oblivion_Chracter_Overhaul.esp" in your load order or you will not get the changes to Syl and Thadon.

The optional "Dawn and Dusk Disenchanted - Dawnfang.esp" can be placed anywhere in your load order as long as it is below "DLCShiveringIsles.esp" and "Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch.esp".

Version 2.2 of this mod makes changes to leveled lists so it is recommended you use Wrye Bash to make a bashed patch. When making a bashed patch ensure that "Dawn and Dusk Disenchanted.esp" has the "Relev" tag and appears in your leveled list section during the patch creation process.


Uninstallation:

Simply remove the files or deactivate the mod using Oblivion Mod Manager.
