Is it possible to bring up this UI with an already-created character? I tried using showclassmenu from the console, but that didn't trigger the class description UI.
ETA: I reduced my resolution from 4k to 1080p to get another mod's UI to work, and was presented with a prompt to add a class description. so it might be a resolution-related bug.
Such a small mod yet it adds SO MUCH to the roleplaying aspect of the game. Creating custom classes and the ability to enter in descriptions are both missing in Skyrim, so I can only hope that TES6 will have these features implemented. Bethesda is much bigger now than they were over a decade ago when they made Oblivion, and especially now after joining Microsoft, so there should be no excuse in cutting back on stuff imo lol.
The only issue I'm having is that I cannot edit the description once it's been entered in unless I use the showclassmenu console command. If there's a way to do it in-game, please let me know lol. Other than that, excellent mod. Thank you!
Awesome mod! I honestly don't get why Oblivion didn't come packaged with a feature like this, seeing as Morrowind allowed you to make a custom class description.
Unfortunately, I must be the one to discover a fatal conflict with this mod. Class Advantages does not get along with this mod at all. After creating a class, class advantages pops up to have you choose 3 advantages for your custom class. At some point during this, the popup for this mod will appear. However, it will get interrupted by Class Advantages and you'll never see the field you're supposed to enter your description into.
It might be possible to beat this mod and set up your advantages before it appears, otherwise it won't work. Also, attempting to reinitiate the custom class creation after this mod has been interrupted and broken causes the game to crash.
Other mods that require popups and player input upon setup seem capable of being interrupted by other mods setting up without breaking, so perhaps there's a solution there.
Unfortunately, any popups from mods that require input -- a button prompt or a key selection -- can be broken by other mods that try to make their own popups. It's completely luck of the draw. That's probably why many mods use token objects in the player's inventory to set themselves up -- that way, they're not fighting for dominance.
Sometimes reloading can help. You could also try not enabling this mod until you've selected your class advantages from the other mod.
I made a mistake. It did not occur to me that the popup that tells you to add your description is actually where you type it in. I feel stupid. This works fine. It doesn't break Class Advantages' s screen nor vice versa, at least the one time I finally figured out that is the popup you're supposed to type the description in.
HOWEVER, the part about the game crashing if you attempt to re-do class creation is true. This doesn't happen with just Class Advantages (done it many times), so I'm certain this mod is the cause. I suppose that won't break anything but the beginning of the game should you chose to change your class. It's also possible that it's a conflict with Alternate Start, since you can freely change your class at the statue before you leave the prison cell, but I can't imagine why since I'm pretty sure the class screen it calls is the same one called by the vanilla start and at the end of the sewers (and by the player through the console).
Otherwise, it works wonderfully. Just can't change the class once I set it.
Great mod. I'm of the opinion that an RPG is only as good as its flavor text, so this is much needed.
That's strange, testing on my end shows that you can edit your custom class after you've entered a description (you'll just have to type the entire description each time) with no crashing.
I've sometimes had crashing when repeatedly trying to change race at the beginning of the game; I recommend saving, quitting, and reloading if you want to edit your custom class, and see if that helps.
