Portable Alchemical Sorter
Version: 1.3
By: Kea
----------------------------------------------------------
Introduction
--------------
This mod aims at helping you to find ingredients with the same effect. So you can make a potion quickly without searching through all of your ingredients to find one with the desired effect.
When you load the mod, it gives you an alchemical sorter (a scale). It is automatically added to your inventory.
First, activate the sorter, and select "Sort Ingredients". It will put all of your ingredients in the bag. Then, activate the sorter again and select "Retrieve by effect". Choose an effect, and all the ingredients in the bag that have the chosen effect (that you know of) will be put back in your inventory. Now, make your potion!
Installation
------------
Extract all the files from the archive to your data directory and activate the portable alchemical sorter.esp in the launcher. Ignore th PasFixEnc.esp. If you use Oblivion Load Manager, just load the omod.
No need for archiveinvalidation as there is no replacement textures.
Details
-------
When you activate the sorter, the following menu appears:
What do you want to do?
Bag weight: xx
Sorting method : xxx
- Sort ingredients
- Retrieve all ingredients
- Retrieve By effect
- Open the bag
- Change Bag Weight Divider
- Change sorting method
- Put all items in the bag
The message box tells you the actual bag weight and sorting method.
From this menu, you can transfer all your ingredients from your inventory to the bag (sort). If you have a lot of ingredients, you may need to do it several times.
Retrieve all transfer all ingredients from the bag to the inventory.
Retrieve by effect lets you choose an effect and put all the ingredients with this effect back in your inventory. The "select effect" submenu will tell you for each effect how many different kinds of ingredient you have in the bag. That way, you can quickly know which potion you can make (when the number is 2 or more).
Selecting "Open The Bag" will simply bring up the container menu of the bag. From there, you can manually take or put ingredients, or any other item, in the bag. The bag weight will be updated. Avoid using the "Take All" button and use the "Retrieve all" from the main menu instead.
By default, the bag weight divider is 1, which means the ingredients will have the same weight when put in the bag. By changing it to a higher number, you can divide the weight of every ingredient in the bag. It can be used as an alternative to "Lighter Alchemical Ingredients", or to simulate the fact that carrying lots of ingredients is easier with a well organised bag.
There are 2 different way to move all your ingredients from your inventory to the bag :
- Move: this is the default way, introduced in 1.1, inspired by the keychain mod. When you move a lot of ingredients with this method, the game will freeze from a few seconds up to 30-45 seconds (user report). And you may have to do it several times. The upside is that it doesn't print any message.
- Add/Remove : this is the original method from v1.0. I brought it back because of user request. It doesn't freeze the game as the other method but will print a message for 3 seconds for each ingredient moved. Can be annoying.
When moving ingredients, the encumbrance isn't updated on screen. To refresh it, switch to a different menu (with F1, F3 or F4), close the inventory, or activate the bag again.
The bag from the version 1.0 has been removed. But now, you can dump the sorter on the ground or in any container. Your encumbrance will be adjusted. I will try to find or create a proper bag mesh for next version, but for now, the scale will do. Not very immersive, but functional.
