More Adoring Fans v1.0

It's not fair. It just isn't. You risk life, limb - and sometimes the loss of your very soul - either saving the world from Daedric imperialism/imminent necromantic zombification/revanchist Ayleid princelings; redistributing the ill-gotten gains of the bloated plutocracy to the deserving poor; or just preventing underqualified scab labour from undermining the perfectly reasonable wage demands of hard-working guild members. And what do you get? A few trinkets and the odd bit of good will from the legion. A brief acknowledgement and you're yesterday's news.

Meanwhile, any farmboy/girl who knows which end of a sword to hold can take a stab at immortal fame. In the Arena, the opium of the masses. And should they survive an ordeal much less gruelling than crawling through just one Ayleid ruin, they are guaranteed universal renown. And the adoration of a certain woodelf.

Well, universal renown is hard to guarantee, but now you can at least have your very own Adoring Fan, whatever your achievement. And, if your character is the sort who takes on every challenge in the game, you can collect them all. Dive Rock may soon become a very busy place...

Requirements

Oblivion v1.2.0.416    (I strongly suggest you install the Unofficial Oblivion Patch too, though.)

Installation

I recommend using BAIN, for which this archive is suitable. If you choose to do it manually, though, simply unpack all the files in the archive to your game data folder and activate the .esp. Load order should not be critical, this should work anywhere - there are some small nuances though, see later.

Uninstallation

Obvious with BAIN. But again, if you are doing this manually, simply delete from \Data the files:

MoreAdoringFans.esp
\Docs\MoreAdoringFans v1.0 - Readme.txt

and folders:

\Meshes\TC13MoreAdoringFans
\Sound\Voice\MoreAdoringFans.esp

Compatibility

This should be compatible with almost everything. It barely modifies vanilla resources at all. In addition, the new fans are all placed in the Tamriel worldspace, hopefully avoiding any present or future conflicts with Better Cities. (It was tested with Better Cities 5.5.3). No clashes with Unique Landscapes seem likely either.

However, an extra line has been added to the appropriate quest script for each of the Fans. This is simply to make them appear promptly to greet you when you make the grade. These could be overwritten by a later mod, but even if this happens, the fans will be enabled anyway by their own quest script which runs every minute of game time. This script also ensures that your current character will acquire a Fan even if they've qualified before installing the mod.

If they are script-enabled, and you are elsewhere at the time, don't be sad. You can find your adoring followers outside at:

Imperial Prison Entrance (Champion of Cyrodiil)
Arcane University Entrance (Archmage)
Chorrol South Gate (Fighters' Guild Grandmaster)
Garden of Dareloth (Grey Fox)

Tools used:

TESCS (with CSE)
Tes4Edit
Nifskope
Audacity

Credits

Bethesda, for the game and CS (though big thanks to ShadeMe too, for extending the latter).

Use of resources

These just consist of some re-edited sound files and a few bits of weaponised clutter. But if you find a use for them in your own mod project, feel free. Credits are always appreciated, of course...

Final Notes

Well, it's the hottest week of the year so far in the UK (as of 1/7/15 that is), hence this mod. Far too hot and humid to even figure out how to run up a convincing pomegranate mesh for my Harvestable Fruits mod, let alone to deal with the mission creep that besets all the other partly finished gubbins I've got on my drive. So this is just a little potboiler that I had some fun making. Nonetheless, I may consider extending it. I can't really get my head around the idea of a Dark Brotherhood Adoring Fan, but perhaps the Madgod and Divine Crusader would be grateful for followers (especially the Madgod).

Oh, and if you don't want me to add a Fan to the end of your ginormous quest mod (you know, I think The Lost Spires lobby could do with a bit of livening up...), modest payment terms can be arranged...
