MOD NAME:
Royal Redguard Battle Lion - Sym

AUTHOR:
Zella

Version 1.0

DESCRIPTION:

Sym, the Royal Redguard Battle Lion, is a very powerful magical companion, who has toggle Stay & Follow commands & a Summon Spell. He is Essential, Player owned, & will not turn on you. He will never run from a fight and will defend you to he becomes unconscious. He answers you (roar + Message) when he receives commands. He follows closely vigilantly watching out for danger.

He will be a very strong partner in combat. He has Restore Health greater than Umbra, Reflect Damage 25 (It's like Jujitsu! It enables him to be more useful at higher levels.), & Water Breathing. He Resists Magic 50, Poison 100, & Disease 100 %, to prevent permanent effects requiring a reinstall. He is fast enough to keep up with a mount.

He is particularly useful in Role Playing non-warrior types, such as youngsters, traveling Healers, Bards, Merchants, or Alchemists who want an interesting companion to help defend them in a dangerous world. Intrepid Adventurers will have a partner not a liability. He is very strong, as a lion would be, & you may have to leave him at home, or outside the dungeon, sometimes to level up.

To begin:

Sym, your Lion companion is outside Anvil behind Fort Strand. If you stand behind the rectangular part of the fort facing East, you will see a large boulder at the top of the hill. He is behind it or nearby.

You may choose to activate Sym at any time in the game. When you activate him you will receive his Summon Spell & he will be set to Follow Mode.

REQUIREMENTS:

Oblivion with the Patch or the Oblivion GOTY version. SI is not necessary.

COMPATIBILITY:

There should be no incompatibilities unless the landscape where he is located is altered by another mod.

If it is, you may need to temporarily uncheck that mod, Play, activate Sym & remove him from the area, make a Save, & Quit the game. Then you can check the mod again & have both that mod & Sym.

This mod has been tested with 184 other mods without a noticeable problems.

VERSION HISTORY

Version

This is the initial version.

INSTALL:

Extract the archive to a temporary folder and check the folder structure. Make sure that you have a Read me, & a Data Folder that contains the Sym.esp, and two Folders:

1. Meshes>Creatures>mountainlion Folder, which contains 4 nif files (called    malelion.nif, malelionhead.nif, malelionpaw_l.nif, and malelionpaw_r.nif).

2. Textures>Creatures>Mountain Lion, which contains 2 dds files:    malelion02_n.dds, & malelion02.dds.

-Then move the meshes, textures and sound folders, plus the esp to your Oblivion Data Directory & to their proper addresses.

-Save this Read Me somewhere for reference & ease of uninstall. Keeping a Desktop Folder for all of your Read Mes can be very helpful, especially if you note which files the mod adds & where (when the modder does not), or if you forget where to find something.

-At the Oblivion Game start up,in the Launcher 'Data Files', Check the Box by the  Sym.esp, BEFORE choosing 'Play'.

UNINSTALL:

Make a 'clean save' without Sym loaded, & then remove:

 1.The Sym.esp

2.Check the contents of Meshes>creature>mountainlion folder for items other than the 4 nif files (called malelion.nif, malelionhead.nif, malelionpaw_l.nif, and malelionpaw_r.nif).

*If there is nothing else inside, you can remove the creatures folder. Never remove any game Folders that you did not install or that are being used by another mod.*

If there ARE contents from other mods, only remove the nif files you added for this mod as listed above.

 3. From the Oblivion>Data>Textures>creatures>Mountain Lion Folder remove: 2 dds     files: malelion02_n.dds, & malelion02.dds.

If they are the only contents, you may remove the Folder holding them.
