Important: In the "Oblivion/Data/Docs" folder there are 2 VR files: a Readme and a Manual. The first one is needed for installation and technical informations the mod. The second one contains everything about how the mod works and teach you all features in VR. Read both them, and you'll get the answers for ~98% of your questions. As for the remaining ~2%... I'm here to help you!

Question: I have a problem with VR. What can I do? Answer: Follow these 2 simple steps: 1) Read the readme and follow the Installation procedure. Ensure you have ALL requirements, and ensure OBSE is running. 2) After the game load and VR initialize (it may take a while on a fresh new game) open the console with ~ (or with \, basing on your keyboard) and check if VR wrote something. Usually if VR doesn't run at all, there's an initialization problem, and VR write it in the console. 3) Ask me for help. If you refuse to follow the first step, then I may try and try but I won't be able to fix your game if you don't follow the instructions. The readme exists for a reason. (I don't want to be so rude, but 95% of problems and doubts are caused by not reading the readme and the manual...)
Question: When I load any savegame I get killed! What's happening? Answer: VR check all requirements when the game loads. If you miss a requirement, it immediately stop the script, show you an error message and kill your character, to prevent you make any save (without those requirement(s) you risk to corrupt your savegame). When your character is killed, VR will print what's happening in the console. Just open the console with ~
Question: VR reset my configuration/settings/difficults every time I reload. Why? Answer: By default, VR reload the ini everytime you load your savegame, so any change in the VR menu is lost and replaced by the values in the ini. You can make VR remember the configurations and don't reload them from the ini. Open the VR ini and do either: 1) Set all your desired values. They will be the new default values, so all saves will use them. 2) Only set bLoadSettings and/or bLoadDifficult to 0, so VR won't reload the settings and/or difficult from the ini every time.
Question: How does VR works? Answer: You can learn everything about this mod by reading the Manual. If you need something while playing, you can read a book in your inventory, which contains the manual.
Question: Where's the VR menu? Answer: The VR menu can be opened by pressing the Modifier (R-Alt) and Menu (M) keys together, or by casting the VR menu spell you'll find in your spellbook (the spell is not available before version 1.1). NOTE: If you change and forget either the Modifier or Menu key, you can still open the menu with the spell (in v1.1+) or by asking me the commands to open it.
Question: How can I feed? Answer: You can feed on people with the G key. You can feed on sleeping people with both G key or by activating them (as you do in Vanilla). The feeding action is more complex than simply "Tap G and feed". Read the manual to understand how to feed effectively.
Question: Hunters are hunting me! How can I get rid of them? Answer: You can keep a low profile: avoid feeding on good people and only bite bad people. Slowly, your vampire bounty will decrease and when it reach 0 they will stop. Or you can gather some Hunters coins and some gold, then find a woman in black clothes in Leyawiin who can help you immediately...
Question: Why don't you add enhanced graphic, blood everywhere, fangs and custom armors, this and ... ? Answer: I wish I could. Really. But I'm a simple scripter. I can add new features and enhance your game experience, but I don't really know how to create a simple polygon, shader, texture or anything graphic related. But if you show me any page with "ready to use" resources, I can use them (only with the author's permission).
Question: I want a new feature/power/pony/... can you do it? Answer: It depends on what are you asking for. The Oblivion engine and script language have limitations and not everything can be realized. I will check all your requests and see if Oblivion allow me to realize them.
Question: I don't like this feature. For me, vampires should be like this. Can you change it? Answer: VR menu is the answer! Many settings can be configured or disabled, and you can customize many aspects, even "How much blood I consume" or "I don't want holy damage in chapels". If you can't find the setting you want, just ask me. Adding a new setting or multiplier only takes 10-15 minutes!
Question: Is VR compatible with StarX overhauls or other vampire overhauls? Answer: as general rule, you can't overhaul the same thing more than once without conflicts and problems. Critical conflicts may exists between vampire overhauls. A known exception is VR + StarX. StarX seems to be almost fully compatible with VR and even "complement" it somehow. Almost fully compatible... StarX Vanilla Vampire Revised, StarX VVR Updated, StarX Vampire Deaths and StarX Vampire deaths improved add a death system. VR (v1.1+) add a death system. If both systems play their death sequence on the same vampire, you can expect serious problems! Luckily, VR allow you to disable its death system (so you don't need to downgrade to an older VR version or uninstall something). I don't know if the StarX mods allow you to disable its death system instead. In the worst case, you have to either disable VR death system, or uninstall StarX completely. A patch is not planned, and I don't know if the 2 systems can be merged to work together.
If your problem is in the FAQ I won't answer it, and maybe I will even delete your post.
I've uploaded a quick urgent fix for the stakes bug. After all this time I don't know if I can still say "urgent"... sorry, but I was kidnapped by real life! You know, amazing graphic, shaders and textures, incredible AI and details for NPC's... and everything on a stable +infinite FPS!
Give me a week or two and I'll start working on v1.2!
Waiting for the next update (which will include this info), I put here the settings suggested by fienyx for Basic Primary Needs:
;=== Basic Primary Needs for Vampires.ini set BPN.ini_modname to sv_Construct "Vampire Revolution.esp" set BPN.ini_vampire_needcurrent to sv_Construct"VRMain.CurBlood" set BPN.ini_vampire_needmin to sv_Construct"VRMain.MaxBlood" set BPN.ini_vampire_needmax to sv_Construct"0"
;=== Basic Primary Needs.ini >> 3rd party mod settings set BPN.ini_vampire_nothirst to 1 set BPN.ini_vampire_nosleep to 1
Is there an option that comes with the mod to turn off the weaknesses to garlic and churches? I'm asking cause vampires in Tamriel arn't normally affected by garlic, it's apparently just the 1 in the dark brotherhood who is actually affected by garlic; and honestly I kinda don't dig religion being a weakness to vampires. It's not cause I'm an athiest, it's cause in reality, it just doesn't make sense anymore, cause now we know that there are other religions other than Christianity, and I don't think a particular religious item should really effect a vampire. I mean no offense, and I'm not taking any, it's just I think some of the only weaknesses for vampires should be things like sunlight (even if it doesn't necessarily harm them, but instead irritates them and stops them from using their powers), fire, weapons enchanted with either sunlight or fire damage, and blades such as swords and axes. Sorry if you may find this irritating sir.
Edit: Welp, read the FAQ... I realize I look like an idiot. I really need to get into the habit of "read first, ask questions later."
Is there a way I can have all settings I set stay permanent? I tried saving game and going back to that save, and then just gave me back the weaknesses I didn't agree with.
Alright, found my way around, thank you for your help and patronage, sir; and might I ask if siring, or enslavement might come to be a thing at any point for this mod?
So I think I'm experiencing a glitch. I'm an archaic vampire now, and I don't think I've gotten any new powers pass dark speed. Could it be that I touched some lady rune stone and now I can't get me new powers, or do I have to wait pass archaic? I've already been through newborn, baby, lesser, and senior, I dunno how much longer I must wait to get the next message box telling me what power I now have.
Try a reset in the menu. VR will recalculate everything and will give you the correct age/level (if they are wrong) and will give you any power your character missed for any reason.
is this still the way to get basic needs to work with VR? for some reason with this in place only feeding on sleeping npc's actually fills my hunger, nothing else will, they do however increase my blood pool oddly enough.
Doesn't seem to be working for me. Vincente didn't infect me despite getting the quest update, and adding the disease via console does nothing, it seem it is immediately cured since the debug says i'm not infected
Hello all, I know I'm late to the party, but how do I finish the Quest "vampire cure again" with quest ID MS40Repeat? I've been trying all kinds of quest stages, but the only one I find is stage = 10, which only informs me that I can get another cure vampirism potion, if I choose. But the "vampire cure again" never closes, and always stays open, even if I kill the witch that creates the potions!
In the mages guild quest Janus bit the necromancer and I was standing close so I got bit o guess. And i immediately transformed. No 3 day wait. Is that normal?
I'm trying to use this with Morroblivion and no matter what I do I can't get Porphyric Hemophilia. I tried seeing in xedit if there was any conflicts but no. I also tried powering the mod in the load order be more at the bottom. Nope. This mod is just too Incompatible unfortunately =[
Hey Frogman. Are you installing with MO2? I was actually just recording. And I accidentally turned into a vampire and for some reason I instantly turned lmao. So my Oblivion character will be a vampire now I guess.

set BPN.ini_vampire_nothirst to 1
set BPN.ini_vampire_nosleep to 1
They are set to 0 by default
And where you have ; === Vampires.ini
should read Basic Primary Needs for Vampires.ini
Just so there's no confusion down the road.

Read the FAQ above
All I wrote about Basic Primary Needs has been said by other users and I reposted them in this post.
That would truly be amazing.
Edit: I could only become a vampire by getting bitten in combat with a vampire. I turned into one after it was over
