Akaviri War Dog

Version 1.0 May 1, 2014

Chiburi, an Akaviri War Dog, has toggle 'Stay' & 'Follow' commands and a 'Summon Spell'. He is Essential, Player owned, & will not turn on you even after 'Friendly Hits'. He will never run from a fight, or yap like a neurotic dog, sneaks when you do, & he will defend you to his "death". He answers you (woof + Message) when he receives commands. He follows closely vigilantly watching out for danger.

He is a large dog who is a good fighter. He can hold his own, distracting some of your attackers so that you do not become overwhelmed, and he can prevail in most cases if you leave him to fight for himself. He is fast enough to keep up with a mount.

To begin:

You will find a silver dagger in the bottom of the boat outside the IC Prison Sewer Exit where you enter the game proper. If you activate the dagger, you will receive the Summon Chiburi Spell to summon him to you.You may now sell the dagger, if you do not want it, and the spell will remain.

If you have numerous mods that give you starting announcements, it is best to wait to receive them, so that they do not obliterate the message telling you that you have received the Summon Spell and Chiburi is now your companion.

You may choose to summon Chiburi now, or later in the game. When you summon him he will be set to Follow Mode & remain with you like a regular companion.

You can also choose to add a Lesser Power Healer's Spell of 50 points at a cost of 10, which is targeted for NPCs & companions, to your Spell Inventory.
IF you DO want the spell, activate the Healer's Yarn in the bottom of the same boat where the silver dagger is located.
If you do NOT want the spell, or do not want to duplicate the spell that you have from another mod, DO NOT activate the yarn which adds it to your Spell Inventory. You can return and activate it later if you change your mind & if you have not added a mod that removes the boat where the yarn is located.

Oblivion with the Patch or the Oblivion GOTY version. SI is not necessary.

There should be no incompatibilities unless the boat by the IC Sewer Exit is altered.
If you do have a mod that alters the boat so that the dagger does not appear, you must temporarily un-check that mod in the Loader 'Data File' before you choose 'Play' at the start of the game. Activate the Dagger and it will appear in your inventory & save your game. If you want to add the Healer's Spell to your Spell Inventory you must do so while the Healer's Yarn is available. Now you can Quit, recheck the IC Island Mod in the Data Files Launcher & choose to load that Saved game. You will now have BOTH Chiburi & your IC ISland Mod.

This mod has been tested with 183 other mods without a noticeable problems.

Version 1.0 - This is the initial version.

Version 1.2 - Corrects the problem of various shady NPCs making unprovoked attacks on Chiburi. This is caused, apparently, by a Construction Set glitch & not by any script or by any other value in his design, since ONLY remaking the mod from scratch over & over until the CS forgets to sabotage it can remedy the problem. Changing the values that are supposed to control the NPC's desire to attack does not help. If an unprovoked attack does occur, leave the cell & use summon to reset Chiburi & the situation, or revert to the game save before the attack.

You will now also be given the opportunity to add a Healer's Spell to you Spell Inventory.

Version 1.3 - Is like version 1.2 only it works, fights a bit better & sits when idle more often.
If you have a prior version installed, you only need to install this esp & remove the V 1.0 or 1.2 esp. There are no mesh or textures required
for Chiburi.

Extract the archive to a temporary folder and check to see if you have
1. this Read Me ;-),
2. AkaviriWarDogV1_3.esp

The esp goes into your Oblivion Game Data Folder.

Save this Read Me somewhere for reference & ease of uninstall. Keeping a Desktop Folder for all of your Read Mes can be very helpful, especially if you note which files the mod adds & where (when the modder does not), or if you forget where to find something.

In the Oblivion game Launcher, where it says 'Data Files' at the Oblivion Start Up, & BEFORE choosing 'Play', Check the Box by the AkaviriWarDogV1_3.esp.

1. Make a clean save in a cell where Chiburi is not loaded.
2. Remove the esp
