Bjorn, a Nord Timber Wolf, has toggle 'Stay' & 'Follow' commands and a 'Summon Spell'. He is Essential, Player owned, & will not turn on you even after 'Friendly Hits'. He will never run from a fight, or yap, & he will defend you to his "death". He answers you (woof + Message) when he receives commands. He follows closely vigilantly watching out for danger sneaking with you. He looks at you & apears to pay attention to everything you say more than other animal companions do. That makes him seem a lot more interactive.

He is a large wolf who is a good fighter. He can hold his own distracting some of your attackers so that you do not become overwhelmed, and he can prevail in most cases if you leave him to fight for himself. He is fast enough to keep up with a mount.

To begin:

You will find Bjorn (OK that means bear, but he is a bear of a wolf) outside the IC Prison Sewer Exit where you enter the game proper. He is by the huge boulder to the right of you, as Tamriel loads. He could be behind the large bush there by the boat dock, but is usually visible.

If you have numerous mods that give you starting announcements, it is best to wait to receive them, so that they do not obliterate Bjorn's initial responses. Dispatching the local mudcrab may also be advisable if he attacks you.

You may choose to activate Bjorn now, or later in the game. When you activate him you will receive his Summon Spell & he will be set to Follow Mode.

You may chose to add a Healer's Spell (50 points on Target, Lesser Power, at a cost of 10 points) by activating the Healer's Yarn in the bottom of the boat outside the IC Prison Sewer Exit. If you do NOT want this spell added to your spell list, do NOT activate this yarn! Waiting for him to heal between cells can take time at higher levels without a good healing spell, but you do not want to duplicate them if you have another one from one of my mods.Once the Yarn is activated you can dispose of it and the spell will remain.

If you appear later in the game, he will still fully bond with you at that location.


Oblivion with the Patch or the Oblivion GOTY version. SI is not necessary.


There should be no incompatibilities unless the shore by the IC Sewer Exit is altered.

Conflict with the IC Island Mod has been reported. You must temporarily uncheck that mod in the Loader 'Data File' before you choose 'Play' at the start of the game. Activate Bjorn & move him away form the area changed by the IC Island Mod (& activate the Healer's Yarn if you want to add the Healer's Spell) & then save your game. Now you can Quit, recheck the IC Island Mod in the Data Files Launcher & choose to load that Saved game. You will now have BOTH Bjorn & your IC ISland Mod.

This mod has been tested with 174 other mods without a noticeable problems.

1. Adds the sneak when you do function, 2. Buffs his stats making him a better fighter, 3. He now growls when hit instead of squeaking, 4. He is a tiny bit larger, & 5. Makes the Healer Spell optional & twice as strong.


Extract the archive to a temporary folder and check to see if you have
1. this Read Me ;-),
2. NordBattleWolf.esp, or NordBattleWolfV2

The esp goes into your Oblivion Game Data Folder.

Save this Read Me somewhere for reference & ease of uninstall. Keeping a Desktop Folder for all of your Read Mes can be very helpful, especially if you note which files the mod adds & where (when the modder does not), or if you forget where to find something.

In the Oblivion game Launcher, where it says 'Data Files' at the Oblivion Start Up, & BEFORE choosing 'Play', Check the Box by the NordBattleWolf.esp., or NordBattleWolfV2


1. Make a clean save in a cell where Bjorn is not loaded.
2. Remove the esp
