Permissions and credits
This marks my last mod for The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion and the twentieth upload to the TESNexus! I'll now mentally prepare for the Skyrim modding I'll undoubtedly be doing probably a few weeks from now :)

***4.3.1 UPDATE***
Fixes (hopefully :P) issues with both the Taste of Your Own Medicine quest and Hungry for Justice
Allows you to loot the bodies of criminals
The ability to retire has been removed
You won't be expelled from the Legion if you commit crimes at Commander rank
The 'Honorary' shield that you would normally have been given after retiring can now be obtained after you complete all of the quests and is found in the Imperial Legion Armory.

-INSTALL-
You can either download the OMOD version, in which case you will need the Oblivion Mod Manager
Or you can install this manually however you may need to register the BSA to your Oblivion ini file manually. To do this you simply open your Oblivion ini file (which is probably located in either your Documents folder or a folder called My Games.) go to the line (Use CTRL +F) sArchiveList= and add ", Guards.bsa" to the end (without the quotes of course) AND REMEMBER to activate the Guards.esp in the Oblivion Data Files

-DESCRIPTION-

To join the Imperial Legion, you must have an infamy less than 7 and have completed the vanilla character generation (alternatively type setstage Mq01 90 into the console) and then go to the Imperial Prison district of the Imperial City and speak to Garius Mentus about joining.

To raise through the ranks and gain promotions you simply must gain higher amounts of a variable called Esteem - you recieve Esteem with each arrest that you make. With each promotion there is a reward (such as a legion Horse) You recieve a promotion with each increment of roughly 20/25 Esteem. (However after each promotion your Esteem is returned to zero and you must build it back up again.) - If you reached the Commander rank in previous versions, due to fame, you will still have to gain an Esteem of 45 or higher before you can progress with the latest quest!

In this version the arresting system has been revised, as it was somewhat clumsy and unreliable last time. Now criminals will initiate combat with you when you approach them. As before you will be payed for each criminal you arrest. (When you reach Commander rank, additional payments will be placed in the lectern in your office)

You can bully the citizens of the province, such as confiscating their items and forcing them to give you money. However their cooperation will depend on their disposition to you and each time you goad them their disposition falls.

In addition to this, as a member of the Imperial Legion, other guards will be more tolerant if you commit crimes and will even pay your fine for you. However if your bounty exceeds 75 there is a good chance that you will be expelled from the Legion - permanently. If you commit the crimes as the Grey Fox however it will not affect your standing in the Legion of course.

-TIPS-

Trell's Diary is in one of the unowned shacks in the Waterfront District! *hint* *hint*
When fighting Triock, wait to see what happens!
When you're in the Bruma Cathedral wait to see what happens to the 'stalker'!
If you're watching the vampire guard feeding on other guards and then quest doesn't seem to be going anywhere, try reloading the game or moving a bit closer to him!
If you have to find a book in the quest(s) at some point, check ALL the bookstores
If you're looking for a *certain* book in one of the later Commander ranked quests you might want to try looking in a certain warehouse... ;)
A * particular* Daedric artefact that appeared in Morrowind but not in Oblivion can be given as a reward depending on how you finish the last quest ;)

Enjoy!
