This mod is an animation replacer which adds breathing motion to 26 of Bethesda's original idle animations

Check out the video to see the effect of breathing idles

This includes
  • all 23 "_male" idles (like idle.kf, onehandidle.kf, or sneakstaffblockidle.kf)
  • horse riding idle
  • scan and stand1 specialidle.

The animations are intended as options to NoMaaM BBB Animation Replacer, but they can be used in non-BBB installations as well, or with other BBB animation replacers (BBB: Better Bouncing Breasts).

All animations come in 6 different flavors:
  • subtile breathing - no BBB
  • subtile breathing - BBB "low-key" (BMF 0.6)
  • strong breathing - no BBB
  • strong breathing - BBB "low-key" (BMF 0.6)
  • strong breathing - BBB "moderate" (BMF 0.8)
  • strong breathing - BBB "excessive" (BMF 1.1)

For a more detailed description of BBB, necessary pre-requisites, and the meaning of BMF, please refer to the description of NoMaaM BBB Animation Replacer

Standard idle animation files are used for different purposes:
  • non-moving situation (similar to "poses")
  • in the inventory menu
  • between combat animations

Unfortunately, it is not possible to distinguish between these situations (without doing some tricky modding). So while between combat moves you might prefer "strong" breathing, it's probably more natural for inventories to see the "subtile" movement. But you can't have both.

I made NoMaaM Breathing Idles to justify breast movement for NoMaaM BBB Animation Replacer. There has always been some criticism that on idles breast moved without reason ("invisible boob man"). But subtile breathing doesn't justify breast movement either. So I personally use "strong breathing - BBB moderate (BMF 0.8)".

All animations are fully based on Oblivion standard animations (to keep the nice little movements they have). Only some upperbody bones have been changed. However, all short idles had to be doubled or tripled. You can't simply press breathing cycles into 1.3 seconds.

Required & Recommended Mods/Tools

If you want to install the OMOD version

If you want to see BBB action:

But always install this mod AFTER you installed NoMaaM BBB Animation Replacer (only if you use both mods)

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
INSTALLATION

  • Choose either "NoMaaM BBB Breathing Idles V1 OMOD" or "NoMaaM BBB Breathing Idles V1 Archive".
  • Use the OMOD, if you want to completely install the animations
  • Use the Archive, if you only want some of the animations

OBMM Install (OMOD)
  • Copy OMOD file to \Oblivion\obmm\omod\
  • Start Oblivion Mod Manager.
  • Double-click the name of the mod in the right-hand side of the OBMM screen. (icon should turn blue)
  • Select your option when asked "Choose Breathing and BBB level" (For possible options see description)
  • Say "Yes" when asked "Overwrite?" (26 times when using NoMaaM BBB Animation Replacer)

OBMM Uninstall
  • Start Oblivion Mod Manager.
  • Double-click the name of the mod in the right-hand side of the OBMM screen, click Yes. (icon should turn green)

Manual Install (Archive)
  • Check your \Oblivion\Meshes\characters\_male directory for any .kf file. Make a backup if you think necessary. Do the same for \Oblivion\Meshes\creatures\horse.
  • Choose ONE of the six "Subtile..." or "Strong..." folder, and copy it's sub-folder "Data" into your \Oblivion folder.
  • Optional: If you don't want to use all kf files, you can copy only a subset of the kf files

Uninstall (Archive)

Simply delete the .kf files installed for this mod (in \Oblivion\Meshes\characters\_male and \Oblivion\Meshes\creatures\horse), and/or restore the backup, if you have made one.

Known Issues or Bugs
  • In some "combination animations" involving torches and/or blocks the arms are not fully in sync (like left arm is moving with the breathing motion).

These "combination animations" are a result of the game engine playing 2 or 3 animations at the same time, by using one bones's
animation from the file where the bone has highest priority. So the left upper arm is defined in torch and (shield) block animations,
while other bones are defined in the torch-less. This works quite well in vanilla. But with breathing motion I had to compromize.
However, for breathing idles I had to synchronize spines and upper arms to always come from one animations file.
