Is anyone getting a bug where the crosshair has infinite reach momentarily after pressing certain keys. Anyone have any fixes?

Edit: Tried using only this mod again with a fresh install. This issue still occurs. Anyone know how to fix this? This is my favorite combat mod for this game.

Having same issue, almost went mad trying to google this issue with no relevant results. In my case it seems to be related to throwing but I'm not sure, needs more testing on my part.

My crosshair has no reach until I press a button then it does that infinite reach thing you are talking about.

Yeah is so annoying... otherwise would be a great mod. If anyone ever finds a fix, surely let us all know.

    Hello,

I haven’t been here in a long time. Apparently the last time was October 2015. So, more than eight years ago. I’m old, and don’t really have the time I used to have to build and maintain mods. To be fair, I was already old when I made it, now I’m verging on venerable. It comes to us all. Life gets in the way of our hobbies…

I’m not here to offer any updates to the mod. Even if I wanted to it’s been so long I’d never remember most of how I built it. UV was a labour of love and not unlike our real life children, it’s broken in various ways. I’m sorry about that - it’s so big and sprawling that bugs were inevitable, and since it didn’t pay the bills there was only so much time. I mostly just made things I wanted to play with and UV3 became my personal oblivion playground. Other players were just invited on the ride and encouraged to keep their hands in the cart at all times lest they be cut off. Three ground-up rewrites was definitely enough and there just came a time when I was too busy to work on it. I don’t really even find the time to play games these days. But it’s heartening to see that there are still people playing with the toys I made.

Instead what I’m here to do is offer my heartfelt thanks to the people here on this page that have helped other users out with getting it working. Or have even dug into my hideous code to patch it. I suspect after seeing it they’d be horrified to learn that I’ve taught computer science to generations of university students!

I’ll offer three random pieces of advice for new users:

    1) Use a mouse with extra buttons - it was always virtually impossible to play with the uv keys anywhere other than on a mouse.
    2) I built it with mod lists from 8 years ago - so it shouldn’t come as a surprise when it isn’t compatible with things made after it. Treat it as a product of its time.
    3) We all know lots of the animations are rubbish, but I was a scripter, not an animator, and making new ones simply wasn’t in my skill set. I used animations from virtually every animation mod on the nexus at the time to fill out all the options and I’m fully aware that means lots of them look out of place. If you don’t like them - don’t press that combo I guess…

Bonus advice 4) Look after the people still modding this game. It was an amazing community back when I was active and people put a lot of love and time into their work. If you don’t like a free thing, it’s fine to just not use it - no need to denigrate their work by posting ‘haha this mod sucks’ type comments. That’s good advice for life anyway. We’re all terrible at things when we start out - it’s how we learn. If you discourage people when they’re getting going, you make a person that gives up instead of an expert. So be nice to new modders, help each other out, and try to be kind.

For somebody who made a mod about unnecessary violence, it’s ironic that I’m an old hippy at heart…

    Much Love,

    HeX

I just came back to look at this since it's one of my all time favorite mods. What a pleasant surprise to see your comment after all these years! I wanted to thank you for all the labor and love you put into this and for all the fond memories you helped make.

Is there any mod compatible with this that lets me sheath my one handed sword on my back with my off hand sword while dual wielding?

Will this mod be compatible with Northern UI for an Xbox controller? Also, is it compatible with Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul?

Throwing knives don't seem to do a lot of damage. Is it because these are intended for human targets? I read in the text manual they have a chance of insta-kill if they make contact with the head or chest. Has anyone else used them before?

Does anyone have any advice on how to make this work nice with Oblivion XP Update? Critical kills and special deaths don't count as kills, and therefore do not grant any XP. I tried adjusting uvvariablesquest.killtrackingdurationframes in UVIII.ini in the hopes that it would help, but alas, no luck.

Hi, the mod is really great! I love how it added such a fun mechanic to the game, I couldn't play without it anymore :-). Even though..

I have just one problem, most of the time when I combo my UV attacks with my vanilla ones (sometimes even without a combo) the enemies (mostly non NPC ones, although the NPC ones do this too sometimes) just "freeze" and don't do any attacks anymore, they just follow around. If I get close enough I get hit (UV attack?) but as said, they just follow around without any attacking. The only workaround this is to bash them, even though this doesn't always do the trick and needles to say, it kills the momentum of the fight.

Also, my character "bugs" out and starts walking in one direction without any input (same cause, only when using UV attacks), the only way to stop it is to press a certain UV attack (mostly block) with the direction being random.

I can still play it and everything else works great (love the decapitations lol), but this one kinda hinders the experience in a big way after 20+ hours of play.

Any solutions or ideas maybe who's experienced? I don't have a lot of mods installed, and I made sure the ones I do have are in a nice bash patch compiled. The game runs stable as can be.. soo, I'm lost to this.

EDIT: I think I fixed the problem, so far it didn't happen after doing it. I can actually see my arms with UV attacks in first person too so that's neat! (First Person OBSE plugin) I put UV last in my load order, then I put the mod "Immersive weapons" after it (it loaded before UV until I changed it), and now it works like a charm.

EDIT 2: Well after playtesting, disabling enhanced hotkeys and enhanced camera, the problem is still there. I tried rebinding my keys to different buttons but alas, nothing works. I'm not sure what to try anymore except a clean save, but to anyone who has the same problem, the above solution is not it. Damn..
