The shader is way too dark for me, is there anyway to brighten it? It makes night eye completely useless in its current state for me.

Is it just me, or does this mod make night eye actively unhelpful? It seems like it turns light spots lighter and dark spots darker.

I noticed it too, is there any way to brighten it?

I'm using this mod for night vision and it works well for me. The way I installed was to install just the OBSE plugin for Scanti's Switch Night-Eye plugin without any shader like KnightAarant wrote below and then just install the Night-Eye mod from this mod. It worked out of the box.

For anyone having complications with getting this to work, what worked for me was installing only the OBSE plugin for Scanti's Switch Night-Eye plugin, and removing it's included shaders. Afterwards, following the xEdit directions of xCubit found further below in the comments. But to paraphrase, you must adjust the "Persistent Particle Birth Ratio" to 1.0 from it's default value of 0.375 which can be found by viewing the kuerteeDetectLifeEffect.esp in xEdit.

I'm using the neutral colour effect for my Nighteye and it is exactly what I've been looking for. Something to enhance light where light exists and adding subtle detail in shadows... it's perfect!
Love the detect-life also... no more of that sickly overpowering "pepto bismol" pink Oblivion default detect-life.

Thank-you for sharing this wonderful mod, you did a great job.

I don't really see the point of this mod. It keeps resetting the shader back to the 1st one so I have to keep typing that stupid command in every time I enter the water or enter/leave an interior cell. And I can't find anything in the readme file that tells you how to permanently set the shader! I guess it's back to disgusting blue vanilla effect.

    Hello All,

Sorry for a Necro Post, but I am having issues. lol

I love many of Kuertee's mods and had several installed the last time I played Oblivion.  However I moved to a new PC and am having problems with Detect Life plugin.  Before moving to this new PC I made a backup of my Bash Installers folder so I am literally reinstalling everything I had running successfully before.

However, no matter what I try Detect life does not work at all.

    Some steps I have tried:

    1.  eactivated kuerteeDetectLifeEffect.esp and checked if horrible atrocious Vanilla detect life works.  It does unfortunately. lol

    2.  Move kuerteeDetectLifeEffect.esp to end of load order, even putting it after the bashed patch.

    3.  I have let wryebash MERGE the esp into the patch, I have also disallowed it from being merged.

    4.  Thinking maybe my backup was corrupt I downloaded the file again off of Nexus and installed it fresh, repeated steps 1-3.

    5.  I have downloaded two other detect life mods and installed them and they work.

The only thing (I can think of)  I haven't tried is a complete reinstall of Oblivion.

But I am at that point where I don't want to spend too much more time on this issue, I PREFER kuertee's detect life mod, but I could live with another one I found that works if I had too.

Truth be told I don't even use detect life spells that often, lol

Anyway, if it is something someone may have already discovered the fix for I would be glad to hear it.  Also if anyone can think of another troubleshooting step I could try that would be sweet too.

    Thanks folks,

    Scott

Did you also install "Night Eye Shader Switcher by scanti" (http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/19476/)? That mod is also required for this mod to work.

Further necro-ing - the shaders provided by the Switcher mention in the previous post caused my installation to crash during startup, so I removed them from the shader folder (only the OBSE plugin is actually needed anyway) and all is good..

Did you manage to find a solution to this? I have the same issue, the Night Eye effect works fine but Detect Life doesn't.

The only way I have gotten Detect Life to work is to have it load after the bashed patch.

I had the same issue as you, and after messing around in TES4Edit for a bit, I figured out the problem.

The "persistent particle birth ratio" (which I really have no idea what any of these mean) was set too low, so the effect was only registering for an instant then disappearing. Changing the value to 1.000 from 0.375 fixed the issue. You can adjust the intensity of the effect with "Color Key 2 - Color Alpha" near the bottom of the file. You can also change the colors by altering the various RGB settings in the file.

For a bit of instruction on how to use TES4Edit:

      1) Open the program
      2) When the .esm/.esp menu comes up, select ONLY the "kuerteeDetectLifeEffect.esp" (otherwise you'll be loading a TON of files which will take forever)
      3) Using the section on the left, navigate and expand the little plus/minus things (kuerteeDetectLifeEffect.esp, Effect Shader, Life Detected)
      4) After clicking on the green highlighted "00000146|Life Detected" section, the file will open on the right to edit!
      5) When editing is finished, just Ctrl+S to save, then exit the program (you MUST exit the program for changes to take effect!)

Incurable white screen was finally cured by setting bUseHardDriveCache back to its default of 0. Courtesy of saebel on Scanti's shader switcher page.

Night Eye Shader causes my game to crash anytime I go underwater without exception..even if I am not using the ability.

Nevermind..I must have set it up incorrectly. Reinstalled this and the Shader Switcher and it works fine now.

I have started to use this mod, and I like it very much; especially the Detect Life shader. I wouldn't want to play without that anymore!
However, I'm having some strangeness with the 'Night-Eye' shader (I'm using the purple one in my game). I've found that, when underwater, the color of the shader will change; seemingly at random, while I'm moving about. Also, if I'm near the surface of the water, I will get an intermittant 'white screen'. Then, as I go deeper into the water, the screen will sometimes briefly go black. Also, when I am indoors if I make any sudden movement in any direction, the color of the shader will change. If I make another sudden movement, it usually changes back to where I have it set.
I have not done more experiments to see how many conditions affect this (spells vs. rings or helmets, for example) because it has not detracted from my enjoyment of the game overly much, and I'd rather enjoy playing than trying to track down something that I don't know how to find at the moment.
I thought I'd post about it, though, in case the mod author or someone else knows, or if anyone else has the same experience.

    Thanks for the mod, kuertee!

    EDIT:
Please disregard. I have discovered the cause of the problem, and it has nothing to do with the mod. This mod rocks, IMO. Endorsed!
