1. INFORMATION ON THE MOD

A remake of the classic Super Mario Brothers games with lots of jumping
and crazy scenery to look at.

ATTENTION: Do not save over your existing savegames while this mod is
loaded. This is a stand-alone mod and messes with the player stats. Don't
blame me if you overwrite the only savegame of your 500 hour/level 48
character. Thanks.


= Description =

This mod is a total conversion. Really, it is. And it is complete! Did
you ever want to play a platformer in Oblivion? Probably not. Well, now you
can anyway. Super Marioblivion is a platformer with 'old school' graphics.

To get the mod running all you need to do is install it and load any
savegame. You will automatically be taken to Super Mario World. There are
three levels (plus three bonus levels.)


= Playing Instructions =

The gameplay is simple - collect all the coins, reach the next checkpoint
and try to survive. The checkpoints are glowing platforms on the ground.
They start out red and turn green when you have enough coins to activate
them. This will make it so you will respawn at the last checkpoint
activated if you fall or get hit by a trap or enemy. It also sometimes
removes a wall to allow you to move forward. You must have exactly the right
number of coins to activate a checkpoint. This will automatically happen if
you find all the coins between two checkpoints and do not do any cheating to
get coins you are not supposed to get yet.


= New for this Mod =

1. Your character now wears red and blue Mario clothing. The clothing is
automatically equipped on your character and works for both males and females.

2. There are now public domain renditions of Mario Music playing to make the
experience more complete. For more music go to:

3. The levels are hard, but easier than the original Super Marioblivion levels.


= Some things to keep in mind while playing: =

1. Do not use quicksave while playing the mod. Quicksaves behave differently
then regular saves and the coins won't update properly after you reload.
Regular saves work fine.

2.Leave your companions at home. The AI is too stupid to get through the
level and companions will only fall down all the time.

3. Do not save over your existing, 'serious' savegames while the mod is loaded.
This mod takes you to a different world and there is no way back. Just backup
one of your savegames and save on top of one copy as you play. You do not
gain treasure or increase experience much while playing this mod, so when you
are done, you just go back to your backup of your savegame and return to Tamriel
or wherever. This mod is just for fun. Not for character development.

4. The Koopa (turtle) shells will not respawn once they fall down. Plan ahead
if you jump on them. They're not needed to reach the end of the game, but if
you want to collect all stars you need them. The wooden platforms usually
respawn, but not always, so plan ahead when using them too.

2. Installation / Un-installation

INSTALLATION:

Install Super Marioblivion from:
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29185

To play Mario Music only while playing the mod, go to
Oblivion\Data\Music\Public and rename "Public" to "XPublic" or whatever you
like. This mod will install public domain renditions of Mario music to the
"public" folder. If you don't do this step, you will get funky Mario music
when in towns in Cyrodiil, and you will get happy town music while platform
hopping in Super Mario World.

To Install this mod, which is dependent on that one, Extract
(decompress) the .esp file to your oblivion directory, the default is:
C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\
Mark the box next to the "Super Marioblivion Levels by David" plugin.

Alternately, extract someplace else. Then move the esp. to
Oblivion\Data\, and the Meshes, Textures, and Music folder there also. Merge
the new folder with the old. Often you can simply drop the "Data" file into
the "Oblivion" folder Make sure the files go into the proper directories they
were in when you downloaded the mod.

Set your load order like this:

TOGGLING BETWEEN THE ORIGINAL SUPER MARIOBLIVION LEVELS AND THESE

This mod is structured as a remake of the original so that all the
complex scripting and parenting could be easily reused. So you have to choose
to play either the original or play this mod during one gaming session.

To play this mod, set your load order like below and load a savegame.

To Play the original levels, set the load order like below, deactivate
this mod and load a savegame.

UN-INSTALLATION:

Deactivate or remove these mods:

Super Marioblivion Levels by David.esp

Go to Oblivion\Data\Music\Public and rename to disable or delete the
"Public" folder containing Mario music. All the music contained in this mod has
names starting with "Mario." Rename the folder containing your regular public music
to "Public."

Refer to the downloaded compressed copies of the mods to see where all the
meshes and textures are that need to be removed. SuperMarioblivion has a .bsa to
remove, this mod has meshes in "cartoonland" and textures in "cartoon."

To play Oblivion, load up a savegame of a character who has not played
Super Marioblivion yet. If you do use a character who has already played Super
Marioblivion, his or her items and stats will be messed up.

4. Conflicts, Known Issues, and Troubleshooting

As a total conversion, this mod conflicts with practically all other mods
and the vanilla game. See the notes above on how this mod is supposed to be used.

This mod is a stand alone. You don't need to remove your carefully ordered
list of mods to play it though. Just put it somewhere in your load order, play it and
remove it afterward. Like mentioned above, make sure you don't overwrite any
'serious' savegames while playing. It is also a good idea to leave your companions
at home. Or park them somewhere.

The Mario cap and clothes might clip and look wrong with certain characters
and hair styles.

This mod may not work right with some custom races, especially if they
are very large or small.

The Oblivion Game engine is just not great for platform hopping and
playing Mario.

This mod is hard. In this version, the difficulty choice you are given
has little effect on the game. The whole thing has been balanced to be playable by
average gamers. (I am not so great at white knuckle arcade games of dexterity, so if
I can beat it I expect other people can too.)

This mod requires more play-testing.
