About this mod

Load this mod BEFORE Unique Landscapes: Entius Gorge. It works with absolutely zero negative ramifications or consequences. This mod adds a new walking path connecting Fort Facian with both Boethia\'s Shrine and the Ayleid Ruin of Hame. This path is scenic, narrow and perfectly functional for travel afoot. Companions and horses are use-at-yo

Permissions and credits
Mod Name: Hame High Road

Change log since last version:

-More trees added. Every tree adjusted for height and
according to climate zone/altitude of trail area.

-Some trail marker posts moved to side of trail. Also lowered in height somewhat.

-!!!Trails are now re-textured as worn dirt paths. This
gives it a well-used feel and helps to identify the trail
by differentiating it from the terrain around it!!!

New Read-me to encompass all recent changes!!!! Below changes apply to the more robust Waterfall Version of this mod ONLY!

Requirements:

Oblivion with the latest patch

Purpose: To provide a realistic backcountry treking experience by placing a lengthy, winding mountain trail between Boethia's Shrine, Fort Facian/Sercen Camp and the Ayleid Ruin of Hame.

Details:

Have you ever wanted to reach places such as Fort Facian, Sercen Camp, Boethia's Shrine or even the Morrowind Watchtower provided by Fort Akatosh Redux in a realistic manner?

Have you ever cranked up your game and gone exploring hoping for a true, back country trek complete with altitude and discernible climate zone changes? Have you ever wanted to walk on a trail instead of the barren side of a mountain you should have fallen off of?

Then this mod, is for you.

Features:

-New hiking trail. From Boethia's shrine head south to both Fort Facian and/or the
Ayleid Ruin of Hame. Walk along narrow saddles, handle switchbacks and steep drops; take in stunning vista; note the changing climate zones as you descend from frozen
tundra through an eternal autumn decorated with evergreens, yellows and reds. Follow a winding, well-marked trail blazed with wooden posts and now re-textured to provide a
worn, traveled look to the trail and make it readily discernible from the ground around it.

Stop at the running spring high above Fort Facian and view the narrow, winding creek frought with waterfalls and sudden drops that runs all the way from the hills above the
ruined fort to the river at Crayfish Cave.

-Note the leaning statue and half-buried, tilted guard towers and stone stairs of Fort Facian, obviously victim to a recent landslide.

-Wander worn paths through a high-altitude forest rife with reds and yellows to contrast with the towering evergreens.

-Walk beneath the arches and bask in the fireflies as they dance about the Ayleid well near Sercen Camp.

A note on Companions and horses:

I shy away from companions and horses. The trails added by this mod are narrow, and in places a bit tight or steep. While path grids are in place companions may have some
trouble keeping up.

Horses are NOT recommended.

Compatibility Info:

Currently no known conflicts. Verified 100% Compatible with the following mods which edit
nearby areas:

-Fort Akatosh Redux. Not only is this compatible but with this mod installed my trail will take you from Boethia's Shrine to literally the steps of the Morrowind Watch Tower.

-Unique Landscapes: Aspen Wood, Entius Gorge and Cheydinhal Falls. Load all UL Mods AFTER my mod. IF Entius Gorge is loaded BEFORE my mod, slight land height issues will
be a problem at the Northern end of the Gorge. IF my mod loads BEFORE Entius Gorge
ALL ISSUES GO AWAY, with ABSOLUTELY ZERO negative effects on either mod/your game. This is not a fluke; my mod was designed with this compatibilty in mind.

-Stranded Light. This mod makes a very small edit in the vicinity of one branch of my
trails. My mod actually makes getting to this location, FAR, FAR easier than would
have been the case without my mod installed.

NOTE: THIS MOD WILL CONFLICT WITH ANY MOD THAT DOES THE FOLLOWING:

-Changes land height/places large/numerous objects near:
-Fort Facian/Sercen Camp
-Hame (other than Entius Gorge from UL - load the UL mods AFTER this mod.)
-Crayfish Cave Exterior (my new creek ends here. I use very litte land area for
this.)

Please feel free to comment or make suggestions on this mod. The only thing I am
unable to do is to extend the trail further in either direction. This is an area ABSOUTELY SURROUNDED by modded territory, from UL to Stranded Light, to Verona House:
Bloodlines....the list goes on. Suggestions for the valley, creek, window dressing, etc will be welcome!

Installation/Uninstallation:

This mod should have NO EFFECT on your save games. Nonetheless, see the first step for installing, below. Also, the second step if in doubt about the first.

Back up your save games.
Back up your save games.
Place the esp file in your data folder.
Activate the mod (mod manager = your choice. Don't have one? Get Oblivion Mod Manager aka, OBMM from the nexus.)

To remove (if you absolutely must do so) just delete the esp file from your load order.

If upgrading from an older/Different version of this mod, DELETE THE OTHER VERSION BEFORE INSTALLING/ACTIVATING THIS ONE. For simplicity sake ALL future versions of
this mod will use the SAME file name for ease of install.

Recommended mods to play with this mod:

Fort Akatosh Redux. Immersive mod allowing you to join the
legion, complete quests and increase your rank. Also adds
a new fort for the legion, which looks very good when viewed
from my trail (TEs4LODGen needed.)

-TES4LODGen. This mod will improve your overall immersion and experience in wandering Cyrodiil. You know all those Forts and Castles you "hear about" (Like Hoarfrost?) TES4LODGen allows you to SEE them too, and from quite a distance, as you should be able to do. Best of all its so simple to use that you can just have your pet dog launch it while you make dinner or tend to the kids (depending on breed, your dog might get offended at being asked to complete a task as simple as running TES4LODGen.) Seriously, great app, easy to use. Get it.

-Unique Landscapes: Entius Gorge, Cheydinhal Falls, Aspen Wood. Not only do they beautify Cyrodiil in myriad ways; when used with this mod, the net result is: A walking path from the yellow road all the way through Aspen Wood, the Gorge, up the hill at Hame and on to Boethia's Shrine. North from there, down the sloping ridgline, and onto the walking path of Cheydinhal Falls to the City. A makeshift "back/high road" through Eastern Cyrodiil rife with unique sights, sounds and surprises.

-Sittable Rocks: This is an indispensable mod for those who, like me, use REalistic Fatigue. It lets you, well...sit. On Rocks. Surprised? Great mod, highly recommended for, well...sitting. On Rocks. Which also of course lets you regen your fatigue, or just take rest. A must have mod for realistic wandering.

-Not a Bedroll: Sleep. Anywhere. Like in Morrowind. Drop the pillow along a trail and sleep. Sneak to pick it up. No fussy placing issues or making sure its on flat ground. Drop, sleep, repeat. Its like a rock for sleeping instead of sitting. But softer.

-TES4LODGen (once more because its that good.) If this mod does not improve your experience when viewing things from afar I will pay you back the cost of purchasing the mod, I promise (download fees, additional bandwidth usage fees/charges from an ISP and/or reduction in allowance for spending too much time on your computer not applicable.)

Technical Info:

Note on technical info: This is NOT required reading to play the mod. In fact if you are new to modding or are not well versed in the construction set chances are that much of
what you will read below won't even make sense. But it might make a good learning opportunity. That said, you DO NOT need to read what follows in order to play this mod.

-Changes made by this mod:

-Edited land height from the sloping ridge/saddle just north of Boethia's Shrine to the shrine area itself. This is a very small, narrow edit to provide a knife-edge trail from the shrine north to the ridge while avoiding conflicts
with Fort Akatosh Redux.

-Adjusted land height in a huge swath from the unmarked grave just south of the shrine, to both Fort Facian/Sercen Camp area AND just north of the Hame Exterior world cell

-NO land height was edited in a space shared with ANY UL/Better Cities mod.

-The land height edit to connect the Morrowind Watch Tower ridgeline with the shrine is 100% compatible with Fort Akatosh redux, EVEN IF YOU LOAD REDUX BEFORE MY MOD (and its
damned convenient, too.)

Q: Why do you need to load Entius Gorge AFTER my mod, if my mod is 100% compatible with Entius Gorge?

A: Simple. I placed some rather large rocks outside Hame, to create the feel of traveling on a mountainside (to, in essence, create a trail where none really existed WITHOUT
having to alter land height - told you compatibility was intentional.) IF you load Entius Gorge BEFORE my mod, however, the following happens:

-The game sees changes to the world cell from Entius Gorge (including land height.)
-The game sees changes to the world cell from my mod (vanilla land height.)
-My mod "Wins" thus restoring the area around Hame to vanilla land height DESPITE changes made by Entius Gorge.

Loading Entius Gorge AFTER my mod gets you my rocks, posts (trail markers) AND the land height changes from the Gorge, WITHOUT ANY ISSUES WHATEVER. That means: NO floating
objects/land tears/broken path grids, etc.)

Sorry if this is confusing. Chalk it up to a game engine limitation involving load order and changes to world cells. Please, PLEASE load Entius Gorge AFTER my mod and EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE. It was designed to work in this fashion.

This mod DOES NOT:

-Add new interiors, NPC's, AI, Scripts, creatures, cook dinner, clean house, or do windows.

Credits:

Malachi Delacot. For his Trails of Cyrodiil mod. For his gracious review of the initial and quite lackluster version of this mod. For inspiration.

The Unique Landscapes team: For proving that you CAN beautify Cyrodiil and inspiring me to make this little change.

Bethesda: For the game, the CS and allowing us to do WAY TOO MUCH in their game.

Most of all for the Nexus, for being here. For allowing us this amazing, one stop shop for modding needs and resources.

Permissions:

Feel free to add to or subtract from this mod. To integrate it into larger projects, or build upon it and create something truly grandiose if you so desire. All I ask is this:

Please refrain from repackaging this mod, AS IS, without changes, and redistributing it as your own work.

If you do use it, feel free to credit me if you want. Doesn't matter either way. I will just be happy to see this end up part of something larger. (IF that something larger
could SOMEHOW be compatible with ALL the mods I mention above I surely wouldn't mind that EITHER.)

Anyway, enjoy the mod. Have fun with it. Suggestions or comments welcome. If you spot an incompatibility please let myself and others know. I can only test with those mods I have and my load order is long enough for me, thanks (bet you won't EVER see a guy put THAT in writing again.)

Enjoy the mod.
