When I exit through the east gate from Skingrad and drop down off the bridge there is a small bridge heading toward Skingrad outskirts (Better Cities is installed) that is above ground on one side. It's as though the landscape is too low beneath it. I recall having this problem a long time ago with Better Cities and UL, is it a known issue?
Okay, I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm having a CTD in this area. Which sucks, because it's beautiful. I have all the relevant patches I need, as far as I'm aware, and use boss and bashed patch. I tried moving this one specifically a little further down the load order and that didn't seem to help. I also noticed, in the three seconds I got to spend in the town outside of the fort that one of the windows was black but didn't notice any other conflicts. Everything seemed to work fine. It just CTDs when I enter the area from any direction. I am able to fast travel to Skingrad itself, and move around fine within the city, but as soon as I pass the stable, ctd. All the other Unique Landscape plugins work fine for me, so I don't know why this one, in particular, is being such a problem child. Please help ^^;
Two people (only two) have reported crashes when trying to approach Better Cities' Skingrad Outskirts, at least one of them was not using UL Skingrad Outskirts.
Test the following to see whether the crash still happens or not: Disable UL Skingrad Outskirts (and all compatibility patches for it) If it still crashes, it's not the UL In that case, disable Better Cities Full If it still crashes, it's something else in your setup. If the crashing stops, it may be related to BC, or it may be caused by another mod which has replaced some meshes or textures which are corrupt, and BC is making use of the objects which use those meshes or textures.
It's not caused by BC on its own as I get no crashes, and if it were there would be a LOT of reports of this happening, which is why if it relates to BC it is likely to be another mod's bad meshes/textures replacing vanilla ones or replacing those from another mod which BC uses. I made some suggestions to those two people in the BC comments but so far they have not come back to me with further information.
First of all, thank you for your response. I disabled ul Skingrad outskirts and it still crashed, then disabled better cities full, and the crash was gone. So I switched to the individual Better cities esps and even with the Skingrad one enabled, the crash is gone. Now, I do have some weird tears and things that are clearly a compatibility issue, even though I have the relevant patches. But at least it's no longer crashing. I resorted with BOSS but the tears are still there. Don't know why it plays nice with the individual BC mods and not the full, but it is working at least. Thank you :D
I.m having this same problem. The Skingrad outskirts area when better cities is installed has way to many clutter objects which demands a lot of memory from your PC. I restarted my PC and the crashing stopped for me. You can also adjust the "objects" viewable distance slider in your game settings to reduce stutter and crashing in this area, If I start crashing again I may try the un-merged Better Cities and see what happens.
Grab FormID Finder, use it on the offending meshes, and you will know for sure which mods they come from. There's your conflict. Then you can either find a patch on nexus, ask for a patch, or make it on your own.
Im getting random rocks in the way at skingrad outskirts. The ground texture and the fact npcs are attempting to walk through it suggests there has got to be an continous way there normally. Also due west is an hole with rocks on it. When fast traveled to skingrad outskirts and facing eastwards there is an rock formation to the left side that has dancing shadows problem. Passing through causes an massive fps drop. Adding screenshots of what are happening. the rock with broken shadows: the rocks blocking road: the floating waterlilies and that pier suggest here was supposed to be an pond: another rock with broken lighting: this window is mysteriously appearing black: here happens land rift and rocks that shouldnt be there: an closer look at that same location: couple floating trees: here the water is flowing in the reverse direction
I can't see anything in the mod which would make the guards do that, so it must be another mod conflicting somehow. None of the AI packages have "Continue if PC near" ticked, which is the setting required to make an NPC ask the player to leave when they want to switch AI packages.
@huthuthu83 well, I also would like a mod that adds both UL and Open Cities. In the end I'm trying to do it for myself using TES4Edit, but it's not working very well Still, if you have no answers, TES4 is a way you can follow.
Just a note, in case the last poster is still checking in all-these-months later, or anyone else runs into the same thing - I have this problem, and experimented with it a bit and isolated it to the Trails of Cyrodiil - UL Skingrad Outskirts Patch (and the merged Trails of Cyrodiil - UL Patch). First off...thanks for the wonderful mod! I love the farming, especially.
I am having an issue, though. I have a deep trench right at the western border of this mod. Cells -20, 2 and -20, 3 seem to have a ground level far below surrounding terrain. It's not a tear as I'm used to seeing it...I can't see through the world into a void but there is an earth-bottomed trench with rocks and trees floating above it. (Sorry no screenshot....I'm having issues figuring out that feature but figure here is not the thread to ask about it). FormIDs for the rocks and trees floating above the trench show they are coming from oblivion.esm, whereas those immediately to the east are from skingradoutskirts. So I think the issue is actually immediately to the West of Skingrad Outskirts yet the location would indicate it's related to this mod. I don't have anything else affecting this location, that I know of.
Any help would be appreciated! I have actually had this issue for several months and the game seems stable, but I'd like to know the cause and finally sort it out. I recently updated all my UL and BC mods and related patches, but had this same issue before and it appears unchanged by the updates.
Should I try dragging over a clean oblivion.esm from a vanilla install that I saved in MOM, or would that wipe out some of my mods?

Thanks for the info, ran conflict detector and all I got was ooo, but that was already in front of it, so just moved ethe to the bottom of the list and it fixed it
That Wayshine of Mara you refer to belongs to River Ethe.
As for your problem, you have another mod editing the water height in the cell. You'll need to find the conflicting mod and either clean it or (if that doesn't fix it) let the UL team know about the incompatibility so that it can be patched later on.

As for your problem, you have another mod editing the water height in the cell. You'll need to find the conflicting mod and either clean it or (if that doesn't fix it) let the UL team know about the incompatibility so that it can be patched later on.
