Why are not all potion icons displayed in the inventory?

Many mods replace potion graphics, but none of them do it as smoothly and compatible as this one.

    this is a awesome mod
i was annoyed with trying to use alluring potions with ooo, there is compatibility patches but it all just seemed like too much fuss and was strange to me as all i wanted was the graphics
this is perfect, makes the potions look good and you tastefully distributed the bottles among the effects and is perfectly compatible with things that mess with potions
    thank you
this deserves more endorsements than it has

So Alluring potions has 445 endorsements and this has 14. Something is wrong with the world. These are more subtle, more tasteful, and ... they are just much better.

Bad news: So far, nobody has been able to help me with the problem with Medium and Small texture sizes. It appears that a couple of mods suffer from this, but since only a few people out there use Medium or Small texture sizes, nobody really cares. <img class=">
I'm still guessing it's something about the GIMP DDS plugin, but I don't know.

    Okay, good news first:
You're right, I did mess something up with the icons. I'll have to say, this would've been easier if you had mentioned right from the start that a) you were seeing *graphical errors* and b) you were using the Medium or Small texture size.
(It seems that the icons for the smaller sizes somehow result in graphical errors, but I don't know why. I'll look into it. I used exactly the same file format as I did for the Large sized ones, which is what confuses me.)

    Now, concerning your other problem:
Open the readme and look at the first sentence below the "Installation" headline. It says: Extract all files to Oblivion/Data. It doesn't say anything about exceptions!
But even if you didn't notice that, then the next three points of the installation part of the readme go into detail about what you have to do with the ESP file depending on what you want the mod to do, and only one (which does NOT have the "recommended" in captions beneath it!) says you can completely disregard the plugin file.
The one you're referring to, the "recommended choice", doesn't say anything about not importing the plugin. It says: Don't ACTIVATE the plugin. And then:
"Instead, import its graphics into the Bashed Patch."
And that is what you should do. And it *absolutely requires* the ESP file!!

And by the way... the "weak" to "cheak" thing has already been mentioned here in the comments - it's a typo, found on only one of over hundreds of potions. Enough said.

I didn't mean to offend anyone, neither you and your mod; i already said that i think this mod is the best potion-replacer around and if i insisted so much in asking help with it is just because i really wanted to play (and endorse) it, althought i may have been a little rough.

Anyway, it may be true that i didn't understand the instructions and didn't install your mod properly, but i absolutely didn't make things "in the same breath": i tried many times to test the mod in many ways and to find any possible clue on the readme before asking for help, and if i failed to solve things on my own is just because i wasn't able to, not because i didn't try to.

Finally, if i say that for me renaming the potions is pointless i don't mean that it is "generally" pointless, and it wouldn not be so weird if you didn't rename "weak" in "cheack" (beside, i don't ever know if "cheack" means something, but it sounds much moe weird than "weak").

Returning to the main speech, i'm sure to have put it at the end of the load order and the icons are replaced by "distorted" squares; also, in the readme it's clearly written that the recommended choice is to import the folders and NOT the .esp, and there is written that in this way only the retexturing of the vials is provided and NOT the renaming of them, this is why i thought that the .esp was optional.

Resuming, the only thing i asked you is how to fix the icons and if there is a way to use the retexturing without the renaming.

    That's all.

What exactly do you mean when you say that the icons don't work? Do you get Oblivion's original icons instead of my new ones, or do you get none at all, or do you get a funky graphical error? Or do you maybe get SOME of them, but not all?
Because at least two of the icons are simply replacers, so they HAVE to show up.
Also, have you tried putting the mod at the end of your load order?

    About the other problems:
I never said the ESP was optional. The ONLY way this will work properly (though not as intended) is if you're already using a different Potion Replacer which uses the exact same meshes, so that my meshes replace theirs.
In every other case, you need the ESP file. Either for activating it, or for importing its graphics into the Bashed Patch (which is the choice that has "recommended for usual players" in capital letters written beneath it, I might add).

So far, it all looks like this from my point of view:
You didn't install the mod correctly, you didn't read the readme carefully and then you come here and ask for help in the same breath (figuratively speaking) in which you call part of this mod "pointless", "horrible" and "awful".
Oh and then you say that you don't care that I feel offended by that, and are still looking for help.
And to my surprise, I'm still even responding to that.

If there were any useful answer in the readme i would have already resolved it myself and given quietly my endorsement.

That's what i've done: i merged the folders like i always do with every mod and didn't put the .esp 'cause i only wanted the retexture (as you said in the readme), but when i tested it i found out that all the icons were missing; then i put also the .esp and activated it but it didn't solve the icon problem, anyway i went on with testing (with the .esp still enabled) and confirmed that the retexture of the bottles worked well (they all showed different vials), but as i didn't like the custom names i disabled the .esp and reloaded the savegame just to check, thus founding out that all of the potions now showed the same rusty-greenish vial previously showed only by the weak potions or the same blueish vial which was related only to weak poisons.

I tested it many times, with and without the .esp, even with every other mod disabled, and the results were always the same: no advanced vials without the .esp (which makes the .esp much less optional than what you said in the readme) and no icons at all.

As i didn't find any clue in the readme and as noone else here seems to have had my problem, i explained the situation here: is there something you can do about it? If yes i'll surely give my endorsement 'cause i still think that this is the best potion-retexturing mod around, if not i won't do nothing, that's all.

Beside, i don't give a damn that you don't give a damn... anyway i'm going to re-test the whole thing again but i'm pretty sure that nothing will change.
