!!!THIS IS NOT A FINISHED MOD!!!

The Colored Rooms Project began in 2008, and has been worked on for 2 years by a handful of people. In that time, only a few have managed to stay around for more than a month, and only a couple ever bothered to turn in work. I would have liked more to be completed before releasing any part of the mod, but it has become clear that the mod cannot go anywhere without the help of many more people. As large, team based, mods seem to have a stigma associated with them, it is my hope that opening the project to allow anyone to contribute whatever they want is the only way the mod will stay alive.

All resources contained with this project are intended solely for use within the project and cannot be used elsewhere without explicit permission.

Read the README file contained inside the omod for important version notes and credits.

What is the Colored Rooms?
- The Colored Rooms is the realm of Meridia, one of the Daedric lords. Not much is known about this Daedra, but this mod was an attempt at keeping with the lore and filling in some of the missing details. The plane of Meridia is one which is filled with life and magic. In sticking with the concept of colors, the realm is divided into 8 areas, or rooms. Each room is a separate worldspace devoted to a single color, feeling, concept.

How much is completed?
- At current, only 3 worldspaces are defined and usable.

The garden, is a worldspace that exists only to provide a connection point between the other rooms. Here you will find gateways that lead to the rest of the realm. This area is only sparsely cluttered, has a handful of wandering NPCs for appearances sake, and leads out to 2 other rooms.

The Black Pit, is one of the rooms and serves as the realm's prison. It is here that thieves, murderers, and outcasts are sent. The realm contains a small town built on the edge of a bottomless pit. To work off crimes, people must enter the caves which wind down, into the pit and collect materials which must be offered to a shrine located in the town. The caves are home to the sorts of horrors you would expect from a plane of oblivion, and have become a refuge for some of the necromancers and heretics which have been brought to the realm. The town features 3 complete quests, an inn, shops, and a guild you can join (1 of those quests).

The Golden Plains is the other defined room. The plains are home to several small towns, farms, and ruins. This area is intended to offer a change of pace from the usual worldspace. It has many tracts of open, flowing land and offers a chance to just sit down and enjoy the scenery without being constantly attacked by every bandit, wolf, and daedra that ever was. The area features two main towns located along the coast, and several smaller settlements located inland. These towns are only semi-completed, in that they have inns and shops, but don't have all the interiors defined, cluttered, and populated. Although the area is meant to be a bit more casual, there are still various forms of wildlife which might decide to attack you. There are also a few caves scattered around for those who happen to stumble across them.

There isn't much of a story defined, nor much dialogue or lore. This was always on the "to do" list, but just getting areas setup and cluttered (usually because someone was assigned the job, and they never bothered to tell anyone they quit the project) ended up taking too much priority.

Why release an unfinished mod?
- The project is essentially at that point where there is too much which is completed to let the project just die off, and has not enough completed to where it would stand as a finished mod, in any light. It is hoped that by making the project open for everyone to see, that people become interested in the project, and decide that they want to contribute. Asking people to join a team doesn't work, but giving people a mod to work from, some basic guidelines, and letting them do whatever they want is pretty much what modding is all about. This is the intention. The intention of giving people somewhere new to make mods around was the primary purpose behind this project, and as it stands, the only means of salvation.

What is the difference between the Client Version and the Development Version?
- The Client Version can only be used to play and look at the mod. It is there to give people a preview of the mod to see what it is. The Client Version however cannot be used to make or play additions for the project due to how the data is divided between a .esm and .esp. This division is necessary to allow the mod to be loaded in any load order. The Development Version, in contrast, can be used to both create additions for the project, and play the mod, but MUST be loaded in the 01 index. This is the main difference between them. The Client Version also has some of the incomplete/buggy/testing areas removed to avoid confusion, and comes packaged in omod format for easier install.

Put simply, the Client Version is intended for mod USERS, the Development Version is intended for mod MAKERS.

The Development Version is only available for download from the project forums at:
http://s2.invisionfree.com/DarkGenesis/
This is because the Development Version is compiled first may require additional patches or changes. It is also because doing so forces interested persons to join the forums and learn more about the project before trying to add anything to it.

How do I contribute to the project?
- Download the Development Version at the forums listed above, and register for the forums. Located on those forums are places to learn about the project, what was planned, and discuss issues related to the project. It also has places to talk about and upload your work, or collaborate with others. You will also find some basic instructions, guidelines, and tips for working on your own additions to the project. Mods based off the project .esm which are of quality, and don't cause serious conflicts can even be merged into the project to become a permanent part of the mod. Your work can add to the world contained in the mod, and can be used by others as a starting point for their own mods.

If you have questions on how to do something, or where to start, the forums provide a place to ask questions related to the project and get the help you need.

This mod is not dead, it just needs more people who are interested in contributing. Nothing about this mod is particularly complicated or difficult, it never was. The only limitation this project ever had was in the amount of people around to do anything. It is my hope that by opening the project and allowing people to contribute what they want, when they want, they will come to realize the amazing things which can be done when people work together.

*Client Version 1Pc is the same version I had made available for some testers, while looking for some feedback on the project. Nothing has been changed between versions. This version is still quite far from completion. I am well aware of many of the things which need to be fixed, and can't do everything in what limited time I have.

If it bothers you enough to where you feel like you need to leave a 5 page rant about how bad it is, maybe you'll feel more inclined to actually do something more than complain about it.
