About this mod

Automatic Standing Inventory Idle Script by evanc_a Concept by Derico ** Requires Derico\'s Resources ** See readme/description for details, issues, caveats, etc. This mod will allow you to see yourself standing up straight when in character info/inventory menus. It will also -replace- your bow posture to be standing straight.

Permissions and credits
08-30-09: Found another non-critical issue. When you leave your inventory/info menu, you will have to redraw your weapon. This will happen automatically if you already had your weapon drawn, but if your play style involves opening your inventory a lot in close combat, and you use slow weapons, this might be a problem. Otherwise enjoy.

Automatic Standing Inventory Idle

Mod/script by evanc_a
Original concept by Dereko

*** THIS MOD REQUIRES DEREKO'S RESOURCES FROM "INVENTORY IDLE." ***
*** THOSE RESOURCES ALSO REPLACE THE DEFAULT POSE WHEN HOLDING A BOW ***

That mod contains renamed idle-animations and some bare-bones mesh/textures, that's all this mod uses from it. You don't need to enable Dereko's ESP.

I don't see the harm, however, in requiring that people give credit where credit is due, and download the resources from the original visionary.

Dereko's mod should be found here:
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14498

Description:
Dereko's original mod replaced the bow animations with standing animations.
When the player equipped a bow, their character would be standing as seen next to the inventory/stats etc. (character info) menus.
Dereko's mod provided the player with an invisible bow for use in those menus.

My mod adds a more complex script that automatically adds and equips the bow whenever the player opens their inventory/stats/map/quest menus. The invisible bow is unequipped and removed when the player returns to the main game mode (i.e. exits those and any other menus.) Whatever weapon the player had before is then automatically equipped again unless the player has selected a new weapon from his/her inventory.

Selecting a new weapon will also return the character animation back to the battle-ready pose (unless the weapon is a bow, since that animation is replaced.) The "stand up" bow can still be equipped again manually.

I also serendipitously discovered that, if you open any of the other three info menus before moving to the inventory menu (you can ensure this with Oblivion's keyboard shortcuts), your character will be shown with their proper weapon, but the standing pose. I believe this to be a side-effect of how Oblivion handles these menus, so it may depend on your version. (I use the GOTY edition, which has the final update.)

Caveat:
Unfortunately the equipping and unequipping of weapons tends to make a somewhat harsh sound. This will happen pretty much every time you open or close your character info menus with my mod.

A note on installation/uninstallation:

Remember that this mod requires the resources from Dereko's mod. It should be found here:
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14498

You may need to use some archive invalidation method, I use the Oblivion Mod Manager's archive invalidation utilities by default, and find they work well, however it also leaves me with trouble testing whether or not a mod will require such utilities. If you don't use an archive invalidator, try the mod and if it doesn't appear to do anything, that's most likely the issue.

OBMM will also help if you want to deactivate or uninstall the mod. This is because the resources, as stated at the top of this document, include replacements of the standard bow "idle-animation" postures. If you want to de-activate the mod, it would be a good idea to use OBMM to deactivate it, or manually enter the folder to remove the following meshes added by Dereko's mod:

meshes/characters/_male/BowIdle.kf
meshes/characters/_male/BowTurnLeft.kf
meshes/characters/_male/BowTurnRight.kf

Usage and liability:

I am not affiliated with Dereko, nor him with me, I have only attempted to contact him at the time of upload to let him know of this derivative work. This .esp file does not contain any of his work, only file pointers to his mesh and texture, so please do not bother him regarding issues.

If you modify and improve my script, you can include it in another mod as long as you credit me as author of the original script, and Dereko as the creator of the original concept. And of course don't include his resources unless you obtain his permission.

One thing that I know people (including myself) will want to do is remove that equipment sound effect. This would probably be a simple sound file replacement, so it wouldn't need to use my mod at all, but if by chance someone came up with a script to remove the sound effect only in this specific instance (and assuming no one else has done the same) by all means use the above paragraph's guidelines to upload your new version. I am specifically stating this because I am unlikely to ever get around to it, since I'm not terribly familiar with file replacement mods, yet I would like to see the issue get fixed somehow,

I also claim no responsibility for support of this mod, although it's not complex enough that it is likely to ever need support. That said if you comment on TESnexus I will (unless I've completely retired from the game) eventually see it.
