DB's Static Quest Rewards (DBSQR) v1.03b by DerekBaker

Gives the best reward to the player regardless of his/her level.

RATIONALE

I prefer a static a game as possible. I didn't try Quest Award Leveller as did not like the idea of items increasing in level magically as I levelled-up.

Given it covers a little more than quest rewards (see MECHANISM), it should perhaps have been called something other than 'Static Quest Rewards', but it was the name I'd selected at the beginning and I chose not to change it.

REQUIREMENTS

Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) v0018 Beta 2 or later

CHANGES from v1.03

ReadMe updated to reflect correct load order for those using OOO/FCOM.

MECHANISM

As well as Oblivion, the mod supports Shivering Isles, Fighter's Stronghold, Knights of the Nine, Mehrunes' Razor, Orrey and Vile Lair - other DLC does not have items that fall under the mod's remit. Compatibility with Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul and SM Plugin Refurbish is supported by patches. Where mod would otherwise unintentionally override changes made by the unoffical patches, these changes are incorporated in DBSQR.

When you receive a reward for a quest it will be the best item(s) available. You will be given the best version when you acquire new items; any in your inventory at the time of the mod's first run will remain as they were. If there is a choice of items at the best level that will continue to produce one randomly selected. Generic weapons are not done, save for where they are a quest reward. I've used Bethesda's choices for what is received (except where they've made an obvious mistake) even when that may give a slightly strange result. No changes are made to the items themselves, only which version you receive. For a full list of items covered see '[SPOILERS]DBSQR - Changes.txt'.

In addition to those items that could be narrowly defined as quest rewards, I've also included other unique named levelled items that are gained on quests. This also helps to balance the mod a bit.As you receive vastly better weapons, armour and enchanted items early on; I think it only fair that sometimes you have to face someone with the item before you can claim it. For any concerned it still makes the game too easy, there is always the difficulty slider.

INSTALLATION

The package is structured for manual, Wrye Bash and OBMM installation.

For manual and Wrye Base installation:

00 Core contains DBSQR.esp
Docs which contains DBSQR ReadMe.txt and [SPOILERS]DBSQR - Changes.txt

01 SIcontains DBSQR - Shivering Isles.esp
02 DLCcontainsDBSQR - Battlehorn Castle.esp
DBSQR - Knights of the Nine.esp
DBSQR - MehrunesRazor.esp
DBSQR - Orrery.esp
DBSQR - Vile Lair.esp
03 CompatcontainsDBSQR - OOO.esp
DBSQR - Vile Lair SMPR.esp
DBSQR - Vile Lair SMPR Full.esp
(omod conversion data not used)

Install DBSQR.esp. Must be installed to use this mod.
Install DBSQR - Shivering Isles.esp for Shivering Isles.
Install DBSQR - Battlehorn Castle.esp for Fighter's Stronghold.
Install DBSQR - Knights of the Nine.esp for Knights of the Nine.
Install DBSQR - MehrunesRazor.esp for Mehrunes' Razor.
Install DBSQR - Orrery.esp for Orrery.
Install DBSQR - Vile Lair.esp for Vile Lair.
Install DBSQR - OOO.esp if using Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul.
Install DBSQR - Vile Lair SMPR.esp if using SM Plugin Refurbish - VileLair.esp.
Install DBSQR - Vile Lair SMPR Full.esp if using SM Plugin Refurbish(Merged).esp

If installing manually, put the required esp's in your Oblivion\Data folder.
Default Path -XP:C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data
Vista:C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data

For OBMM install:

Create an OMOD from the DBSQR 7z archive. The OMOD conversion data includes a script that will run when you choose to install the OMOD. You will be asked whether to do a default install. If you answer yes, all components that have their requirements met will be installed - for example, if DLCBattlehornCastle.esp exists in the data folder (regardless of whether it is activated or not) DBSQR - Battlehorn Castle.esp will be installed. If answer you no, you will be presented with a dialog when you can choose what components to install. Those marked WONT INSTAll do not have their requirements met, and will not be installed if selected.

LOAD ORDER

I recommend BOSS (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516) for setting the load order. However, currently BOSS puts DBSQR.esp above Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp, which means those using OOO/FCOM this mod's changes will be overriden. I have asked for DBSQR files to be moved below OOO. For now if you use OOO or FCOM, the files should be hand placed.

For manual ordering:

DBSQR.espIf using OOO or FCOM, must load after Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp
DBSQR - Shivering Isles.espMust load after DBSQR.esp.
DBSQR - Battlehorn Castle.espMust load after DLCBattlehornCastle.esp and DBSQR.esp.
DBSQR - Knights of the Nine.espMust load after Knights.esp and DBSQR.esp.
DBSQR - MehrunesRazor.espMust load after DLCMehrunesRazor.esp and DBSQR.esp.
DBSQR - Orrery.espMust load after DLCOrrery.esp and DBSQR.esp.
DBSQR - OOO.espMust load after Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp and DBSQR.esp.
DBSQR - Vile Lair.espMust load after DLCVileLair.esp and DBSQR.esp.
DBSQR - Vile Lair SMPR.espMust load after SM Plugin Refurbish - VileLair.esp and DBSQR - Vile Lair.esp.
DBSQR - Vile Lair SMPR Full.esp Must load after SM Plugin Refurbish(Merged).esp and DBSQR - Vile Lair.esp.

If you use a Bashed Patch, rebuild it. Tags are pre-applied.

DEACTIVATION/UNINSTALLATION

WARNING: Removing the esp(s) will not remove all the changes the mod makes. To do this open the console and type "startquest aaaDBSQRRemoval" without the quotes. A messagebox will inform you when the removal is complete. Any items already received will be unchanged. If you use a Bashed Patch, rebuild it after deactivating/uninstalling the mod.

KNOWN ISSUES

None known.

Mod was cleaned with Tes4Edit so no need to do so again.

COMPATIBILITY

All I can say at this time is that it's fine with the 100+ mods I have installed.

Use only one mod that provides static items of the same type as this mod at a time.

VERSION HISTORY

v1.03Fixed Docs folder not positioned correctly for Wrye Bash install.

Fixed Bash Tags were not pre-applied as was previouly stated in this document.

v1.02Fixed wouldn't install when omod created from archive.

v1.01Now correctly supports use of single merged SM Plugin Refurbish esp.
